You would need to get in line-behind me.
Dude, you should write a book!
If I had a dollar for everytime I've been told that! I'd have a nice chunk of change.
Anyways. The reason there are no pictures from Sunday's TT is. Wait for it... I forgot my SD card! Der der der!
Anyways. In other moto related news.
Fiona's bars are going to require all new control cables / lines. Usually you can skate by with just getting extended lines & route the clutch & throttle cable differently when fightering a bike, but not this time. These are a bit more extreme than usual. I keep sitting on the bike & tweaking everything & liking them more & more.
Bonus points for them looking pure evil!
So I've got a +6 clutch cable coming from Motion Pro & a complete set of custom Speiglers coming for her. Shit's pricey, but I know what I want & she's only gonna get the best! On the throttle reel, it's going to be a bit more difficult. Hopefully I can piece together a reel from a dirt bike in combination with the multitude of cables I have from parting out several bikes to come up with a clean (single cable) solution.
I suppose I haven't really discussed the intention of Fiona.
I've been jonesing for a superbike for awhile now. I LOVED Bonnie, I built her into what I envisioned as a perfect bike. Light & versatile. Those are the two most important things I see a motorcycle needs to be. Fiona is neither one of these. The only thing she's good for is railing around at hideous speeds. Not that that's a bad thing. Oh no, but she sucks at doing anything besides going triple the speed limit.
I've got a small frame, I don't like a heavy bike. A lighter bike accelerates, brakes & maneuvers faster. It's win, win, win.
Versatility: I could dive into this one head first folks. What good is a bike that you can only do one thing on? (besides a dedicated racebike such as Buttons) I wanna go kill bendies so lemme get my sportbike. I wanna ride some dirt so let me go get my dirtbike. I wanna cross three time zones in a couple days, lemme go get my Goldwing.
Fuck that noise.
I do everything on my streetbike. I do insane tours & commute to work. I take gravel road shortcuts & explore river trails (ask a certain member here with a DRZ...) I kill bendies whenever the opportunity arises & hooligan around town.
Now there's no possible way you can extract the utmost performance in any of these situations on one bike.
Are you Rossi? Are you Pastrana? Are you Roberts?
Didn't think so. I damn sure ain't. So I don't need a late model works 450 thumper just to ride a trail. I don't need an RC211V to kill some bendies. I don't need a Goldwing to take a trip.
So yes, it's a compromise to an extent. Good thing is, it's an extent I cannot reach.
One thing I am totally fed up with is plastics & clip ons. I shouldn't have to fight to take a body panel off a motorcycle just to change the oil. I don't like the riding position of a stinkbug either. So those parts are in a box.
I got Fiona with the sole intent of fightering her ass off. I wanted a nice example, not something that someone else has already fucked up. As close to stock as possible, with low miles. There was one thing wrong with Bonnie. I was always looking for more power. Not that she didn't have enough, god no. Just I'm too stupid to know when to say that's enough.
I got Fiona for her engine. End goal? Build a near replica of Bonnie with 50 more horses.
