We live in a phenominal area for riding, but until you find a few places on your own, ou could always reference here:

California Motorcycle Roads & Rides - Best California motorcycle routes for planning great California motorcycle trips | Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com

Hitman brings up a good question though, do you want fast and sweeping, tight and technical, coastal rides, it really all depends what you're looking for

Preston's link is great... also check out California Motorcycle Roads - Pashnit Motorcycle Tours Maps, Passionate Scenic Rides Photos

There's an interactive map of California with detailed routes and write ups on just about every good riding road in the state.

Pch down the coast, or north going towards Oxnard. You have Angeles crest(be careful), Azusa, mt baldey... I rode to the Griffin Observatory recently, that was fun along the Hollywood hills. Just get on your bike and see where the roads take you. Just keep your phone charged and gps ready

If ya end up in the Ventura/Oxnard area PM me and I'll show ya some groovy roads that are great for a beginning rider. (no... not highway 33... that's not newb territory! hehehe)

Also... What's this "GPS" thingy you're saying is needed while on an moto adventure? half the fun of a bike is not knowing where the hell you're at, where you're going, or where you'll end up!

i believe PCH is still blocked at Neptune's net going to Oxnard. you can spend the whole day on the detour, Kanan, latigo canyon, encinal, decker, mulholland, las virgines, ect. good to get gas before you head out, they rob you in malibu area

i just moved from pasadena to azusa a few months ago and my favorite spot is angeles crest (highway 2 ) because there are a lot of different routes up there but its a little dirty in the winter and you got azusa canyon up highway 39 which looks nice but ive only been in my truck and there is gmr which is fun i hear, i say screw pch , malibu , and mullholoand there are way to many cops always and its alaways packed with really unsafe riders on weekends
