Holy crap! Ok, I was way off. That's supposedly 8 hours away, not 2 or so like I had thought. If I ever come out, it'll likely be with my bike on a trailer. My ass can't handle this hard seat for an hour, let alone 8. Ha ha.

Thats about what it is for me, But I usually take the long way round & it takes 10-12 hours..
& yes I ride it, Got a break these last two years, But it looks like I'm going to be on the bike the whole trip this time round.

Yeah I'd have to sit down and actually plan that trip out. 8 hours is a long time even on a comfortable bike. How much do rooms cost up there?

We'll see what I can do around my school schedule as well. My degree is my number one focus right now.

Rooms at the store are about $60 a night very reasonable, (but you have to make a reservation)

Fontana village is only 6-8 miles away & rooms start at $85 a night.
There are more options available in near by Robbinsville, NC. & Maryville, TN.

I've made the trip (& it's an all day ride 400+ miles) on Joan 6-7 times..

Sold my comfortable Suzuki GS500, so we'll see which of the two bikes I have left I'll get to take or if by chance I buy a new one. Not long left.

It is important to not override your abilities. There is never any shame in arriving a minute or three behind the majority of the group. We will not leave anyone behind. That said there are enough of us that we will split into groups and find one that matches your level and have fun. Wear protective gear. Jeans wear through in less than a second of sliding on asphalt. Always ride sober, preferably without a hangover from our evening partying. Be prepared for a lot of horseplay and fun! Old Ninja Dude and the twins keep everyone laughing.

okay cool. I have class until the 4th so I am still on the fence and trying to make arrangements. I'll get back to you. If another person is for sure needing the bed, then of course let em have it. I promise I won't feel bad. lol
