PCH- Road/Camping/Beach Trip

I've been planning a trip to go up the Pacific Coast Highway for a few weeks now and a lot of friends don't have the luxury of vacation time like I do. I'm from Southern California in Orange County so I'm planning on taking HWY 1 all the way up north and stop by camp sites along the way to rest for a day, trying to make it a three day trip their and back so if anyone is interested let me know. Planning on leaving before the first of Aug. PCH- Road/Camping/Beach Trip-uploadfromtaptalk1438127513414.jpg

I will warn you, camp sites all along Highway 1 are booked well through October so I would suggest planning to camp "incognito."

I'm planning this kind of trip, myself but wont ge able to do it for at least another couple of weeks.

I will say that I highly encourage you to do it, and to share your experiences here. It will most certainly be an awesome adventure in beautiful geography.

Didn't think it would still be busy past the 4th of July, if I don't end up doing it, maybe I can tag along with you.

Yeah its crazy! I was hoping to do an overnight adventure a couple months ago and was saddened to find that no matter where I looked, everything was reserved for months out.

This, however, should not deter you. Do some research on "first come first served" areas that are slightly more off the grid. You might get lucky. I've gotten lucky on occasion simply by showing up and paying cash (depending on the area, they'll let you swap a ticket posted on a site if it isn't too crowded). If you're ballsy, make it an adventure and take the risk. Play the "I'm on a bike and will park anywhere out of the way" card. Ya never know.

I will let you know what I plan but it will be a month or so out. I will definitely keep you and anyone interested in the loop.
