Cheers mate, it's good to hear you weren't hit too bad. Luckily the storm didn't hit more populated regions, it just seemed to zero in on my folks!

Cos of the mega rain the last few days my road is washed out bad, never seen it this bad.
I didn't realise it was the same storm that was flooding Melbourne. My parents left Melbourne partly cos of the drought. So they move to the town that's hit by the biggest storm in Aus history and then Melbourne floods..

I still haven't talked to them as I'm not sure how to contact them ATM. Going to try again tonight, being over the other side of the world doesn't help.

I got a text saying that they're ok and it looks like insurance will help out, which is pretty cool. Still no power so I haven't talked to them, might see if my dad is logged into google tonight.
I was talking to a friend at work about this today - said a mate on a forum was giving me more useful information than my parents or any news network!
So - cheers for the updates of the situation mate.

Once I get around to visiting them I'll have to track you down and buy you a beer. If my dad's VFR is repaired (storm damage) by then I'll steal it - we'll go for a ride and talk about how shit VFRs are

get this tho because we lost power for more than 48hrs my wife and i got $1000 each and if we had kids they would get $400 each thats crazy i remember when i was growing up we would lose power for days an days and never got any thing not that im complaining the cash is going to fixing my shed, fence and gates which i would have had to fork out for other wise
