San Fran to Sydney

Just moved to Sydney last Thursday, still getting settled and stuff, but can't wait to get a bike at some point. Was wondering, will my US M1 license be valid with the RTA? Anyone been through the process?

I learned that its really strict to get a motorcycle license here, something like you have to start out on a 50cc bike? I ride the zx6r, lol.

I Ride: 2005 ZX-6R, 2011 250R
I did a quick search of some forums, and it looks like as long as your license has a motorcycle provision on it and you make sure to mention it, it should transfer over with no test required.

50cc bike? Haha..that's a myth. You have to start with 250s for sport bikes, and also higher capacity bikes are allowed if they are heavier bikes. It's based on a power to weight ratio.

Where in Sydney are you?

I'm originally from Toronto, but have lived here now for 4 years.

Let me know if you want to hook up for a ride. I can show you were the good roads are - RNP, Old Pac and Putty Rd, and it would be good to chat with a fellow North American and talk about NFL, NBA, NHL and all the wacky things that are Austraaaalian.
