Nah they ping ya for it...

A local mag actually explained it quite well as the tests done for Australia are slightly different to other countries... Something along the lines of a double impact and a sharp object test, that isn't required in the EU..

I will try and scan that which details the info fairly well and post it up for you, but will need to find that issue at home somewhere I don't believe its online anywhere...

In the mean time have a read of this thread. The points on wearing the non Australian Standards helmet can result in insurance company woes where if deemed you aren't wearing a helmet that doesn't comply could wind you up in a not covered by insurance company if head injury is incurred.

cheers Arlo appreciate the help her indoors likes the idea of a new lid not gonna tell her how much they are over there think i'll just treat her.......pain about the testing we have Sharp testing over here but it's not industry recognised I use the guide to influence my helmet choice and it's surprising as some of the cheaper models come out above the big names such a Shoei Arai and the like. I think this is why it hasn't taken off over here cause its proving that payin loads for a lid doesn't neccesarily give you the safest..... looking forward to getting out next month.

Australia is a nanny country! We have a law on pretty much anything you can imagine! We don't have freedom of choice, the government makes our minds up for us. We are one of the highest taxed 1st world countries in the world but don't expect even decent flat roads. Even reflectors on the bike aren't your decision, we have rules on those too! It was once a great country but just don't expect to be making your own decisions about pretty much anything! That's just my opinion on the state of affairs over here. And Melbourne is the place to be...

Perth is a pancake isn't it? I'm sure that if riding long flat straights for hundreds of kilometres is your idea of fun the Perth is perfect!

I have lived in most states and have managed to find good riding in all, it's what you make it. We do have hills and plenty of good scenic winding coast roads, the only thing we lack is tracks. Did I mention that we also have sun.

was just looking up aust tracks and found this thread....
somebody needs to build more tracks over there.
Wanneroo looks fine for what it is but 1/1.5mi is too short especially being the only track around.

or maybe I guess there's no need when most biking activity is ride the Harley around wearing work boots and singlets lmfao. or have times changed?

I would get a bit bored of having only that one, my local track is 1mi and I didn't get there this summer even though it's 10 miles away and is the only bike track day that offers a nurburging style 'pay and play' which are some pretty good points. but then my bike was also a bit broken for a fair bit of the summer so I probably would have gone if I had the equipment.
