hey i goin over to the south Island next month (july) jetstar has flights for $38 one way,anyone know the best method and the cheapest to get around,I like the camper van road trip idea,but they want $1000 for 7 days hire,that is way too much.

Used to live in Blenheim NZ - did a trip round the South Island with in-laws. Stayed in budget tourist accommodation (Hostels). If you are prepared to share kitchens etc its pretty cheap. Rent a Dent genarally have some pretty good car deals too. http://www.rentadent.co.nz
