Alright folks,
I've enjoyed reading and seeing pictures for a while now of many of your projects, so here's mine.

A few months ago I bought the bike I've wanted for years, a 2005 ZX6R. It was not quite as pretty as I might have liked, but it was VERY well cared for and a great price (plus I enjoy doing body work, so I don't mind buying ugly).

Anyway, here's how she started out - the day I brought her home:

I have done a decent amount of work already and will post some pictures right away and some a little later. I will also be sharing more info about what I plan to do with her as I post more pictures.

Hopefully some of you will be able to get some entertainment out of this the same way I have been entertained by many of your projects. Cheers!

The first thing I did was to take off as many of the decals as I easily could and replaced the stupid windscreen (oh, and tires). I discovered, to my dismay, that the Monster logo still on the bike in the below picture as well as the "Cabron" and the star seen on the pictures above were not decals, but painted on. I was planning to leave some of this work until this winter, but vulgar hispanic slang isn't the kind of thing that a high school teacher should have painted on his vehicle...so I started work sooner than anticipated.

I initially planned to just prime the lower fairings, leave the Monster logo, and leave the rest of the work until winter (which is why the lower piece is missing in the above picture)...but I had so much fun that I couldn't stop Then I started stripping everything off of her to sand, prime and eventually paint:

In between, I also put on a new chain and sprockets, installed a SpeedoDRD, flushed brakes, coolant, new oil/filter, and adjusted suspension. I will also be doing some other mods as I have everything exposed right now anyway. These mods will include (may not be limited to) HID conversion, Dual Headlight Mod, install Gorilla 8007 alarm, +maybe some other things I'm not thinking of at the moment.

Question Build related question:

Anybody know what those little rubber things that go in the fairings that the bolts screw into would be called so I can try to find some on ebay?

Just buy a complete fairing bolt kit on eBay they should come with the well nuts if you get the right one. I found one on there for about 35$ I think it was

And this is why I keep hanging out here

Mine that are in the fairings already look like the third frame of the picture so I thought I needed to buy something that looked like that...I didn't realized they would squish when tightened

Thanks for the help!

Alright, since I posted last I did the following:
-gold shorty levers
-black and gold bar ends
-green rim tape
-Gorilla 8007 alarm
-started work on HID and am stuck (see H4 Hi/Lo Dual HID for more info)
-sanded and primed all bodywork with white primer (pics later tonight)
-got paint mixed
-made templates for carbon fiber vinyl graphics

Tomorrow I'll be painting and clear coating all the bodywork maybe messing with the headlights some more. I'll hopefully be putting applying the CF graphics on Sunday and then I'll be putting all the pieces back together with gold bolts instead of silver. I am also waiting on my Core Moto SS brake lines, but they will go on next week sometime.

Below are a bunch of pictures related to what I want the bike to end up looking like:

I know I'll probably get flamed a bit for the nail polish pic, but seriously...it's a sick color!

I got a TON accomplished over the weekend.

Saturday I put on 4 coats of my custom pearl green awesomeness and two coats of clear. It went so much better than I thought it would given that I didn't have a paint booth available to me like I have in the past. I let the parts all hang over night and picked them up yesterday and the clear coat self leveled so well that you could literally use it as a mirror - it's smooth as glass!!!

Yesterday I got the HIDs working the way they should be, picked all my body panels back up, cut out all the carbon fiber graphics from my templates I made a few weeks ago, and put about 3/4 of them on the plastics already.

Tonight, I will put the last couple graphics on and put the whole bike back together. I'll have another update very soon and more pictures.
