I Ride: 06 ZX6R 636
Calgary to Van.

Thinking of doing a trip from Calgary to Vancouver in July.
Just wondering if anyone has done this on a ZX6R and what route they took to ensure they wont run out of fuel? I have an 06 ZX6R 636 and i been reading that it can only go about 200-250 Km before refueling.
Looking to go to riding school in April and get practice in until we hit the good weather.
Any routing advice would be helpful.
Thx Al

Hey man, take the #1 and when you get to the shushwap lakes you can take any direction you want. There are enough gas stations along the way to keep you in fuel.

I just fuel up as often as possible to be sure.

The crows nest is a great riide to take but a lot slower than staying on the #1 all thr way.

Who knows maybe we'll cros paths out there. I'm riding home in july also~

God forbid you'd run out of gas. You can always fill up again. Honestly what is with all the how far can I get on a tank of gas and taking a damn 3 day survival kit for a 3 hour ride. Just get out and ride the bike and don't worry about it

Ah, I'm not from Canada my apologies.

My point was that it seems like there's a lot of people/threads lately who are way over preparing for rides where it is unnecessary. Just get out and have fun mate

Totally agree but a novice rider tripping across two provinves? Thats just good sense to prepare.

Having said that, there are gas stations strategically placed along the way to meet the fuel needs of travelers. He doesnt need to worry for this ride.

Fuel up before the rockies.

Fuel up before the Coquihalla.

And keep her topped up all throughout the rest of the way and hes golden.

If anyone is concerned about as you can do the "texas tube" or something like that. keep some cash on you and flag down a car. Syphon a gallon out of their gas tank and give them a few bucks. its not to hard to carry a few feet of tubing stuffed away somewhere.
Geoffrey likes this.

Zero Gravity DB smoke, Shorty brake lever, Righteous stunt metal clutch, Renthal Grips, Galfer red front and rear ss lines, 4700k DDM hid, Headlight delay relay, Yoshi slip on, Relocated brake reservoir, Red EK chain, Jumper mod, SS fender eliminator, Corbin seat, zzr kickstand, Rear seat cowl

Ah perfect thank you. Finally got a response. Ya i get my license at the end of May after I finish the riding school so the trip to BC will happen in July and I want to make sure it goes off without a hitch. I am a complete newb to riding and Im jumping on a Supersport right away so its going to be a learning experience going through the mountains in it. IT'S GONNA BE FUN!
Thank You Gentlemen!

Assuming you're heading back to Alberta? Ya I wouldn't mind trying the crowsnest pass when I have some years in me, heard It's quite the bendy dangerous route. I'll be heading there some time around the 18th or 19th and heading back 25th or 26th.

Shushwap to Kelowna would be nice.

I would recommend the crowsnest to anyone at any level. it is much more enjoyable than the #1. I suppose I have traveled it so many times it's lost its luster a little bit though.

You will be fine though. Your bike will inspire so much confidence on the open road that all your concerns will become a non issue and you will simply enjoy the ride.

Yeah dude, you'll have a blast. The #1 is a fast ride and the crowsnwst is a slow ride. Takes a lot longer if that is a concern.

What are you going to van for?

Vacation and to see friends. I'm from mission originally, they have a track out there too. Might be nice to get on the track and learn somethings. I hear you can learn alot from a few runs on a track.

Haha I was totally about to post and give some advice about sweating through Kamloops then freezing up on the Coquihalla pass, but realized you probably did this a month ago! Hope it was fun and all went well!
