Laid my bike down

After spending months looking for the perfect 636, I traveled out of state to pick up the bike of my dreams. While riding today I hit an unexpected, unavoidable, patch of gravel. I was only going about 10 mph but unfortunately the bike got laid down. Now the right side has minor scratches all over from the rocks.

I am searching for someone who is selling the right side middle fairing in plasma blue and also the lower black fairing.

As well, if anyone near Chicago does body work/paint any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Glad you are ok. Crashing sucks. If you are in gravel, stay off the brakes maybe the rear only. You touch the front brakes and you are crashing.

Sorry for the crash, and hope you were geared up..... if you tell us what year the bike is, that may help with locating parts.

How bad are the scratch's. You can repair them, someone on another forum fixed some pretty good cracks and patched it up. Painted good as new.

Takes some work and time. Can post up a link if you want.

Thanks for the replies everyone! The bike is a 2006 with the plasma blue. I have called a few local shops and I'm taking it for estimates tomorrow.

The scratches aren't deep, mostly barley breaking the paint.

If the estimates are too high I will look into fixing it myself and post the before/after pics to let you know how it goes.

Has anyone used the color rite aerosol before?

Its a 2006 and I was hoping to find a replacement right side mid fairing in the plasma blue. I also need the underbelly black fairing for the right side.

Thanks for the help!

Few places online will sell paint in rattle cans that is urethane base paint. You can buy urethane clear as well. I used it once when I scratched the shit out of my wife's Suv. That was 3 years ago and you can't even tell today. Touchuppaint.com was one site. The paint can has a harder inside a chamber you pearce with button on bottom of can.

If you had misfortune with gravel this early in your riding experience, I would seriously consider not fixing it just yet.... let the bike get a bit more 'character' before you invest in repairs.

If you do fix it up now, I would suggest you get some sliders to keep the fairings off the ground the next time you have a low speed event. -- sh*t happens to the best of us; prepare for the statistically high chance of another low speed event...
