Anyone else still riding with the cold weather. The past couple days have been pretty nice. I'm going to keep going at it until I see snow, or early morning frost on the ground.
I start my commute at 6am, so its pretty chilly at the beginning. My commute is about 20 miles one way. What distance do you travel, and can you offer any tips for those cold mornings?

I'm still riding. My ride is roughly 20-30 minutes though. The low temp today is like 47 deg with a high of 68, but its been down in the 20s in the previous week while on the bike.

Same type of weather today in Jersey. I keep from riding if its below 37, figured the wind chill will bring it down another 10 degrees. Damn, 20's and you still ride...nice. Haven't been that brave yet...lol.
What gear to you use for those temps?

lol i ride as long as there isnt snow on the ground. But being in tx and az its not too bad, but getting on a bypass doing 60mph when its 30 degrees does bite the legs a bit.

I arrive to my destination nice and toasty.

What are you waring under your clothes? A good base layer is key.
Iv tried all kinds, But I like the "Knox cold killers" best. They have a wind blocking layer on
the outside & a thin layer of fleece against your skin.
Any garment with the windstopper layer is good, EDZ makes pants & tops that are so then you can put the top in your pocket,
Very then light & still warm.
A wind stopper layer over an Under-Armor layer or just a sweater will keep you riding long into winter.
And try the "smart-wool" socks.
I ride year-round, Only the snow & ice keep me off the road, Snow never last more than a week to 10 days here.
One day is to much for me. I hate the shit. pretty in pictures but I don't ride in pictures.

OND is on the money as usual. Base layers are key and do wonders. Wind protected gear is amazing. Who would have thought keeping the wind out will keep you warm.
I'll add that keeping your hands warm is #1 on my list, and that is the toughest part for me. I'm just going to breakdown and get some heated gloves or heated liners. I keep spending money on so-called "winter gloves" and they do nothing below 50 degrees.

Since its a short ride, I layer up with Under-Armor, fitted fleece, and my riding jacket that has a inner lining, which is pretty thick. Quote:

As far as gloves, you are right. I have a pair now, and its comfortable, but since at the palm and between fingers its perforated, some cold air creeps in, but not too bad for now.
