[quote name="willaduncan" post="1773932" timestamp="1451880721"]Donating to WWP or Wounded Warrior Project came up today, and as a combat vet with injured friends I wanted to give some advice on who to donate to and who not to if you are ever in the giving spirit for veterans.

First off I will post a tax record for 2014 for WWP later, they are thieves and donate less than 50% of their donations to wounded vets, I have seen their lack of support firsthand.

A small list of who you can donate to that donates around 75% - 99% of their donations to those that need help;

Hope for warriors
Semper Fi Fund
Fisher House
Special-ops Warrior Foundation
Operation Homefront

The only 2 foundations I know of that donates 100% of their income to vets is;

Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society
Marine Corps Retirement home (for MC vets/senior citizens that are needing assisted living)

I'm sure there is a similar for the Army and if there's any soldiers that know of it please add it here, also if there are others that people know of that actually donate proceeds please post them up as well!

Thanks for your time and any donations you make to these places!

there are plenty of great orgs that do a lot of help

USO
Fisher House
Your local VFW ( Veterans of Foreign Wars )
Puppies for Inmates - They use recovering addicts that need some type of stabilization and allow them to train future service dogs for veterans. - one of my fav orgs as it kills two birds with one stone.

there are plenty of charities out there that donate most if not all you just need to be aware and do your research on them.

as far as i know wounded warriors is a decent org, i dont hink jay leno would have used them as sponsors for the love ride if he knew they were screwing over vets.

Wounded Warrior is a joke IMHO. Saw it first hand while I was in. Now with all of the light shone on their business trip to Colorado? (cant remember exact location) for their employees I have given up on them.

It sucks because there are so many people wanting to give because they are genuinely nice ppl and they end up paying for some dbags airfare and lodging at a resort in Aspen. SMH

Dude,

If you want to go, go. Take pictures. Have a good time. Let us know how that all works out. At the moment, you're 1 for 1, right?

I really enjoy El Mayor anejo!!!! In fact I enjoyed it a little too much last night and woke up in my favorite recliner. lol Now I am at work wishing I was back in my favorite recliner. Thank god I am only a pencil pusher....Screw your shut down the city, if you want a kick ass event come to Indy for Motorcycles on Meridian. 10-15k bikes a night and no cars allowed, police block off a few blocks for bikes only. I must confess it is not a ride, it is a ride to event. You can make laps around the Solders & Sailors Monument but better to park and people watch. The organizer of the event is ABATE of Indiana, it was attached to MOTOGP but they picked up their toys and left. Of course you still have the Suzuki guys in wife beaters revving the shit out of many poor Suzuki engines. So why go on a ride that shuts down the city when you can come to a beautify city ,meet great people and are welcomed by all , not despised by all. Indy's local and state authorities have already shut down the city, in anticipation of your arrival. Sounds sweet does it not, It is already done. See no work just play. Besides who want s to shut down a city, I cant imagine trying that. How do you do it , stand on top of a large hill and yell"You stop it, we be shutting this bitch down"!!! What if they don't comply , can you use force? I mean so many questions , to me I would think shutting down the city is too much like work!!

So... No message, no fund raising for charity, just a bunch of dudes who want to dress in leather and tell each other how kewl they are?

Sounds... Fun?

For some reason the more you talk about this the more I am reminded of lemon party...

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'

The only time a leader should use the word "I" is in the sentence "I have to shit"

The fact that they have to emphasize wearing gear, road legal bikes, doing stupid shit, ride with common sense, and the best no "bitchassness" is not something I'd want to go to.
That's a huge turn off to a ride. That screams that they have had these issues before. Seems very professional

I agree , when and if the do's and don'ts read like an attorney/smart person wrote them, then you are okay. If you have to read a list of common sense rules and reminders ( dumbed way the hell down ) with words like " bitchassness" well it kind of sets the dynamics
