Helmet Saftey Certs

In doing research on what kind of helmet I want/need, I came across this paper talking about the different helmet certifications and related testing, as well as general helmet design. I found this very informative.

Have a quick question about scorpion helmets and how they fit... Right how I have a icon and I wear a md but not sure how scorpions fit or should I just go with a md. I'm lookin at getting the scorpion exo 750 eternity helmet in chameleon. Any advise would be nice

Fits my head perfectly. Much more comfortable and just higher quality all around.
Quiet inside, great airflow with the vents open.

Only complaint is the shield system. There's no lock system, so if I do a blind spot check, or a "look behind for cops" check, the shield will slightly pop open if above 60-70mph. It returns by itself as soon as I'm facing forward, we'll see how that problem goes.
I have an AGV withut any graphics for about a year
PROS
Cheap but safe according to SHARP Helmets - THE HELMET SAFETY SCHEME
Good view for the rider (not the best of course)
fast and easy shield change or cleaning

Cons
The inner pads without much use have been deformed and it's not comfortable at high speed.
A lot of difference between size S and M(noticed when i was trying to find what size fits me.)
It's not easy to clean the inner pads

HJC cl-14. No kiddie cartoon graphics, good safety ratings. No complaints. Spend your safety money on other stuff. See way too many posts here with guys owning $600 helmets and not even a decent pair of riding boots..sometimes less. It is just some styrofoam and some plastic. Just get a decent basic lightweight helmet that is Snell and DOT approved and a full complement of solid gear....then be safe.

Scorpion helmets are awesome!! I just got a EXO-500 a couple days ago. I havent taken it on the highway, but even just at city speeds turning my head is a hhhuge difference. My old CL15 was clunky and the wind smacked me upside my head. I think the little lip/wing on the back is under appreciated. Not to mention its lighter. The Scorpion fits like a glove. Its wicked comfortable. The lining design and padding are great and it also has inflatable cheeks so you can adjust the fit. The drop down sun visors pretty cool too. Id definitely suggest it. For the price, you cant beat it.

As for the size, I dont really notice a difference. The HJC was a large and my EXO is too but it does feel a little bit more loose. I dont inflate the cheek pads tho. I like being able to talk and sing unhindered hahaha

Re: Helmet review thread!

I agree I wore a scorpion exo-500 last season, for the price ($185) I don't think they can be beat.

I have a Bell RS1 sitting at my house now, haven't ridden in it yet though so no reviews, but the photochromic visor is awesome lol

How do the sizes compare to icon helmets are they the same or should I go a size smaller or bigger then my icon?

I cant say compared to the Icon but features and liner wise they look extremely similar. The shell could be completely differently shaped tho.

Like I said, my *HJC* was definitely tighter. And I dont use the inflatable cheek pads. I dont think the sizes will change too much. A medium will still be a medium.

I originally ordered matte black but had to go with gloss black Still a SOLID helmet for the price.

.....and I've decided I'm going to ride around with a silver sharpie and have all riders I run into sign my helmet.

The ardent and oil have a decent mostly black simple design. But some of their designs can definitely be a litgle fruity. Trying to be Ed Hardy and Icon too hard. Lol
