Is there any way to pull the baffle and seal it up a tad to lower the noise level?

It does sound awesome, just too damn loud.
I had a Hotbodies MGP Growler slip-on on my 250R and it was extremely obnoxious. The first day I put it on I literally went around the block and everyone who was outside walking cuffed their ears AHAHAHAHAHA I took it right off and listed it online.

Is there any known method to quiet down the MP4? (Different baffle? Modify the baffle? Shove some old underwear down into the tube?) Hahaha

Post a picture of what the muffler opening looks like as well as the baffle. Please though make a new thread and post it in mechanical/technical to avoid throwing this thread off-topic.

Here's a debate...earplugs to protect your ears or none to be able to hear your surroundings (car screech, horn, sirens)?

I've been wearing ear plugs since I was 15 when I starting riding street regularly...

You can still hear everything just fine but it takes away wind noise, which they say is the worst for you ears... Wind noise can do serious damage even if you think its not that loud or it doesn't bother you..

You can still talk to one another, etc..

Most of the time when I start riding with someone new that has never worn ear plugs, they always look at me and say your exhaust is not loud.. I usually have extras with me, I give them a set and say try it.. By the end of the day they are sold and always wear them now..

When I was 15 I started out doing 400-500 mile days on 1978 BMW with my father and his budddys... These guys had thousands and thousands and thousands of miles on a bike... Every single one wore ear plugs, there is a reason why..

I guess it's more so for the people that use noise cancelling earphones and also listen to music. I have a pair and gave them a try after reading through this thread. On my ride there was an ambulance that drove by with sirens on. I could still hear it but the noise of the sirens was drastically reduced. I guess just using ear plugs would work best to protect hearing rather than using earphones with music on.

I haven't tried the headphones and honestly I wouldn't want to for safety reasons. I look at it this way, it's illegal to wear headphones in/on both ears while driving so why would I do it while riding? The earplugs make a huge difference without compromising my ability to hear what's going on around me and I honestly don't need music to enjoy my ride (but I do need music to enjoy driving...).

I agree 100%

I tried it, loved it, but if you are someone who actually enjoys the music it can become a huge distraction with out you even realizing. Not to mention you're hearing level for things around you goes down by a lot because there is now noise blaring into your ear.

Good on for you being safe.

It's not illegal to listen to music while riding. It's not illegal to wear hearing protection in both ears. It's illegal to wear headphones in both ears.... Legal grey area with Plugfones because they are both. As long as you can hear sirens you're fine

I used earplug for street riding all the time because of the wind sound is so high in both my agv helmet, now i got custom mold to listen music and now i wouldn't go out without them!

It was painful the first couples rides to get my ear use to them because its tight but now its awesome, they are the exact same one that racer Marcel Irnie use in is video.

If the music is off its WAY better than earplug and i can listen music at like 30% sound level and the sound quality is near perfect. I literally use the same level that is iam not on the bike without helmet.

People keep telling me its must be dangerous but in more than 10k miles i didn't see any dangerous situation.

It just put a smile in my face since i ride alone like 80% of the time.

And then there's this...
NOISE-CONTROL HELMET - Sena

Not really a fan of the look, but if that works as well as I hope, this will probably be my next helmet. As I wear earplugs, but I hate taking the time to put them in (and my ears are weird so sometimes they don't fit in correctly).

I have the bose earbuds that do the same thing and hey are FANTASTIC. only downside is they hurt when putting on/taking off my RF1200 so I don't use them with that.

So true..I've worked on fighter jets in the USAF for five years and I just retired from
McDonnell Douglas/Boeing after 30 years and 4 months. I wore ear plugs for a living to protect my ears from aircraft noise and manufacturing. I will always wear them regardless of any laws preventing the use of them while riding a motorcycle.
