Rookie mistake

I'm posting this because maybe someone will not make the same mistake I did.

My bike was slipping in 4th and 5th gear at high rpms. I went ahead and replaced the clutch which went really well. The bike also was trying to roll in gear when revving. Anyway, everything is working great now.

This is the hard part. I was out test riding (I live in a rural area). There is no cops and the average speed limit is 55MPH. The only downfall is the roads are pretty bumpy in some areas.

I'm so mad at myself because I have not purchased riding boots or pants yet. I was riding in 4th gear around 10,000 rpms when I decided to test the clutch for slipping so I went WOT. Went good so I switched to 5th. This is when everything went bad. I started to wobble pretty much tank slapping. I was going easily over 100mph. This is when I put my left foot down as I was panicking. I really thought I was going down. Or worse in the trees to the left or right of me. So I managed to slow down enough to pull over. Scariest thing that has ever happened to me.

I have some pictures but just in case someone is squeamish they will be via links. I broke all my toes and probably will need surgery to connect them back.

Anyway! The main theme here is do NOT ride without your gear! I also do not encourage anyway to speed. Big no no.

Good post man, glad you made it out okay as it could have been a lot worse. You should check out speed and strengths running with the Bulls boots. I love them. I need to grab a pair of riding jeans too

Yea! Could have been so much worse! Very thankful it is just my toes. When they were cleaning out my wounds on my foot I was thinking, thank God it wasn't my entire body with road rash.

I'm doing ok now. The orthopedic doctor is going to call me tomorrow and see where to go from there.

Thanks guys!

Yea, I wish I would've just stayed calm and let the bike coast instead of putting my foot down at 100 mph. It all happened so fast. I've watched that video. It is really good.

Small price to pay for jamming your foot into the ground at 100mph.

When do you go for surgery?

Yes I agree! Very small price to pay for being stupid on the street as well. I need to find a track to ride.

Surgery is 1130 est today. Which is a little over 3 hours from now.
