Leather Pant Fit?

How should track pants fit? I just got new leathers from RST for my 2-piece jacket - I have a 32.5" waist. I order a 34" but it was loose, as in when I zipped up and strapped the pants (without the jacket), I felt like I needed a belt to hold up my pants. I went the next size down and it's snug around the hips and thighs, but this is when I'm standing up. Is this how it should fit?

Also, I don't have any pockets for hip pads (nor any space) - do most track riders wear some kind of hip protection? The sales rep at RidersDiscount (where I got the pants) told me it's not common for riders to have hip protection. He said shoulder, knee, elbow, and back protector and I'm good to go.

They should fit snugly in the riding position. Not so tight that it is uncomfortable, not so loose that material flaps around/moves around.

As for hip protection, not a lot of suits have provisions for it. Many of us wear armored shorts underneath our leathers. Check out Knox Armored Shorts

Darn ok thanks for the insight. I'm sure it'll loosen up a bit with wear, but as of now, I can barely get one finger in between my waist and the pants.

Should've just saved my money for a full suit and a proper riding jacket. Rookie mistake

The nice thing about leather is that it will break in with use. If you can make all the motions you need to on the bike, knee out, bend to tuck, etc... with little or no restriction then through use it should loosen up for you. If they restrict you from making those motions you could always go back up a size and get the armored shorts for the added protection and to improve the fit on them.

I purchased a one piece leather suit last week. when I initially purchased it it was super tight and was really hard to get into, but after breaking it in by wearing it around the house for a few days, all was good. Fits great - not too tight but not loose either.

As if I need more reasons to lose weight haha. I'll take it out on a ride this weekend. I found my jacket actually loosened up a bit with sweat lol. If it doesn't work out, looks like somebody on this forum will be getting a 2-pc suit for cheap!

See, this is my struggle. I'm not tall. I'm 5'5/ 5'6 and if my pants are too tight, I don't have enough room in the inseam to stand comfortably on the bike. How do I find pants that give me enough inseam without being flappy in terms of extra loose leather
