jumper mod yes or no?

ok so ive been searching non stop to find out the whole story about this jumper mod for my 05 zx6r. so i just bought my zx6r a month ago and it currently only has a akro slip on. ive been reading up alot about the jumper mod and mostly what im getting is it changes it so the exhaust valve flapper does not close during higher revs so you keep the power up top. considering i no longer have this exhaust valve since i have a akro slip on this mod should not do anything, but ive been reading some people saying it will and some saying it wont, getting very confusing. if it in fact does make a difference with my akro then it obviously is changing something other than keeping a valve that i no longer have open longer. anyone have some insight on what the full story of this mod is? and also wont getting a power commander be able to take care of any "detuning" the us spec ecu is doing? so if i get a custom pc tune then i wont have any advantage or increase in hp with the jumper mod correct? or does the mod also enhance the gain ill receive from the custom pc tune?

Don't know about 05-06, but it gives 07-08 the Euro mapping.

Keep in mind the jumper mod only works at high rpm, 13K and above. So unless your ring it out all the time normal riding won't notice a difference.

basically the jumper turns your U.S. ecu into Euro mode with a lil gain in hp from 13k and up. like mention before if your not racing the bike and going wot alot you want notice the difference.

yes i know all of this. but getting more specific into it im saying all it does is make it so the valve in the stock exhaust stayes open at high rpm correct? therefore since i have a akro slip on which means there is no valve anyways this jumper mod wont make a difference to me correct? and yes i do wind the bike out quite a bit.

bump for anyone who can give me some insight. ive also been seeing people with full aftermarket exhausts and slip on's with the jumper mod so it must do something more than just control that valve.

It gives you the Euro fuel mapping. Valve open or not, if you don't have the correct mapping, I don't believe that you'll make the addtn'l HP.

so in that case wont a power commander then make this jumper mod useless since it changes the mapping anyways? i see people with power commander, slip on, and the jumper mod all done which leads me to believe its more than mapping.

i got it done on my 06 but still got a stock can so not much help there. you could always just try it take it out for a rip and see if you feel anything different i mean it only takes like 5 mins to complete take seat off put in jumper wire put seat on then WOT and hold on tight...lol

this is true but i guess id feel better if i first got confirmation that this will make a difference even with my akro slip on and power commander i will be getting shortly. i guess i just dont like the idea of messing with my ecu when i dont even have to.

What you say makes sense. I follow the logic. Might have to do some research on this.

After I did the jumper mod, I went to work the next earlier morning, no ones on the highway at that time. I pushed it to WOT thru the first 4 gears and I felt a lil extra pep to the bike but nothing spectacular.

superbike magazine did a test on the gen2 636's without a pc and seen a gain of 5hp but it was from 13k rpm and up, so if your just commuting you want notice a thing with this mod but if your racing then yes you will.
