Trying to pick some of your brains. I recently bought another 2006 636 and by the time that I brought it home there was loud clicking coming from the rear tire somewhere. I have taken off the the brake and made sure that it was not binding up. I am now leaning to a bad bearing but before I rip everything out I wanted to see if I could get some feed back. I would really appriciate for any ideas.
After you rode it, Did you feel around for heat???
Sometimes this can locate a problem as anything in a bind will generate heat.
I would place my fingers on the axle & spacers.
yeah just make sure your chain is tighten up good. also check your sprocket to see if it is good. if that is all good and you still hear it, then check your rear bearings...
If you can wiggle your rear wheel slightly side to side you got a bearing problem. Put it on a stand and see. Check to make sure it properly aligned too. Let us know.
I had a clicking coming from my rear wheel once and immediately thought chain too. It turned out to be a bearing.
Put the rear up on a stand.
rotate the tire until you hear the click.
mark the tire with some tape or a sliver marker or something.
rotate the tire one full turn.
did you hear the click in the same place? or has it moved?
If it happens every time the wheel gets to the same place, its a bearing. if it changes, its the chain.
Thanks for all the info, It turned out to be a shot Bearing.
