I bought a 2005 zzr600 a couple of months ago. The bike has almost 12k miles. The last guy that had it put a 14 tooth sprocket (-1) on the front and left the stock chain (525). I have noticed that there is a clicking noise coming from the front sprocket when the bike is moving. I can hear it clear when the bike is on the stands and I spin the wheel. With each click, I can see the chain move a little. I also noticed that the chain is worn uneven. The tension in the chain can be loose, but when I spin the wheel to another spot it can be pretty tight.
I asked the dealer about it, they told me I should probably replace the chain and sprockets. When they were showing me new ones, I saw that the kit with -1/0 had a 520 chain. I am thinking that the clicking noise is because of the 525 chain that I have now. Either way, I think the chain that is on there now needs to be replaced.
Do you guys think I can just get a 520 chain and put it on? If so, how many links and whatnot should I get? I would only want to do this if I can get a chain that has some type of master link.
