I would leave it there unless you want the bike to run like crap. It's not as simple as "Taking it off" as there are many other components to the smog system.

I honestly doubt you're going to see any huge difference in performance on the street. Now.. if you're trying to tick down a few tenths of a second on lap times.. pull it all off, remap the ECU or PC and go at it brother!
i removed mine..but it was on my car lol. im sure there are some good tutorials on how to remove it properly but like stated above, its more than just taking that black box out.
