I'm suprised that this thread only has 18(19) posts, considering all the daily hid questions

This is a great thread, helped me out since I didn't and still don't know much about HIDs. I also like his other post about installing them, I just need to figure out if it is the similar for an 08 because I am looking into buying new projectors and everything. When I bought my bike at the end of April this year it already had the Ebay HID kit installed on it and I ride a couple times a week at night on my way home from work and tonight is the first night I was not flashed by another vehicle.
I have adjusted my stock projectors down to what I believe might "help" the issue until I can purchase and install the new system but im not sure where to start with it or what to buy.

Dont black out your headlights, this will work against you in a very dangerous way, if your going for a dark look then if you have projectors then you can paint everything inside the headlight black.
Dont touch the lens or the headlight lens.

Plus 35W ballasts wont due much unless your installing wide angled projectors.
8000K is just too blue and wont get the best light output, brightest you'll get is 4300K

Your best bet is to go with something like a mini projector if your going for bi-xenon.

bi-xenon projectors tend to be a little bigger due to have the solenoid to move the shutter but if your going for a one projector high and projector low then the vast majority will fit in the headlights.
Just email the supplier for sizes and then you should be able to make a judge whether it will fit or not.

Great post!

Looking at this post reinforces my great decision I made when I ordered my DDM tuning HID kit, I got the 35w 4500k, looks awesome!

So I guess the real question is, what would be the best for our zx6's?The most popular choice, I'm assuming, is the ddm kit.

Will those be good for our bikes?
35w or 55w?
Do our bikes have xenon or halogen projectors, and how big of an issue is it really?

I know the 09-12 have projectors, but what about the other years?(this is mainly for the community to answer, not Steve)

Side note: I had the DDM 55w 8000k on my Buell, it seemed like a pretty solid kit. Had them for about a month before the bike was rear ended and subsequently totaled. But they were way brighter than stock and hooked up rather easily.

The best for bikes is 35W.
there is not much of a difference in brightness on the 35W to 55W ballasts only real difference is lifetime of the bulbs, they last longer on the 35w as they are not getting worked as hard on the 55w kits.

The bulbs in ALL the ninjas are halogens no bike as of yet has come with an optional extra of xenons.

The only real big issue with using xenon bulbs in your halogen projectors is it doesnt make good use of the light output and directs the light more like a torch to a point. whereas if you use a xenon projector your get a nice wide spread of light onto the road. Refer to pic below:

all xenon kits whether they be 35 or 55 watt kits will be substantially better than the halogen OEM parts they only way to make sure you have the best light output and light on the road is to used as close to white light (4300K) and xenon projectors to get the best results.

I recently installed the same 35w dual conversion kit for my high and low as a friend .
It worked fine on his bike ,but when my lights warm up they start to flicker .
What would cause this ?
