Just bought a used gpr 1.0 stabilizer

Hey whats up, I just bought a used gpr 1.0 stabilizer off ebay but I can't tell if this is in working condition... So when i set the dial to max which 8, the lever doesn't feel like much tension at all, because i was expecting it to be stiff to the point where it is tough to move the lever.... am I wrong?? how should it be??

hmm.. I had one and when set to 8, the lever or part that sticks out was almost impossible to move.. so if I understood correctly, your thing seems to be broken. GPR does repairs on their products though. Also, the dial is supposed to be able to be turned 360 infinite # of times.

ok so i just opened this stabilizer up and i am so happy i did, because now i understand the mechanics of this... So there was no oil inside!!! and it definately had to leak out of one of the damaged o ring seal from the body screw. So i am off to the hardware store to pick up the o-ring and should i pick up 10wt, 15wt, or 20wt fork oil??

Take it to a dealer for service, i had one that came on my bike so i did not have a receipt for it but i went to my dealer and they sent it in for me and it was serviced for free.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think gpr will do a complete rebuild for $100 if the oil doesn't fix it

haha glad you like it! Just don't forget to turn it back to one when you're coming off freeways etc.. had that happen to me way too many times and it's scary as hell

first off, try returning it man. $225 is a lot for a used on, and then having to get it repaired will cost more. if you can't return it then I would send it into gpr just to be confident it's fixed.

+1 I'm sure it wasn't mentioned that it was non functioning. I'd get my money back and get a proper one, instead of paying more money to fix what shouldn't have been broken in the first place.

Return it... you can buy a new one for about $300-$320.

You should also make sure you install it correctly. I took my bike to the shop once and when I got my bike back, The setting was at 5 and it felt like there was no stabilizer. So on my ride back home I was turnig and turning through the settings and nothing. As soon as I got home I noticed that the base was installed over my clutch cable. So I took it off fixed it and turned it back to my usuall street setting.
