He might of just seen the bike and had the truck come by to snatch it. Hopefully you find the key monday when you head in to work. Pretty slick putting it on a pallet and moving it. Probably wouldnt have crossed my mind to do something like that.

Him : Reward?
You : Yeah, just a nice chunk of cash. I already towed my bike home and parked it in the kitchen so it wouldn't get stolen. Same thing happened with my last bike. I dropped my key and someone stole my bike. Luckily, I install Lo-Jack tracking on all my bikes. I'm not taking any chances.
Him : Lo-Jack?
You : Yeah, it tracks the bike. My brother is a police officer here and he got my old bike back and arrested the guys but the insurance company totaled out my bike due to damages to the key and column.

BAM! KEY FOUND!

Need some info/advice, until I get a new ignition and key I just got a new key made today and I will keep the bike in my warehouse while I'm at work. I had a crackhead looking guy on craigslist come and make the key for me for $50 bucks ( I called literally about 30 local locksmith's and all but 2 said they did not do motorcycle keys, the two that did charged at least $250 and would have to order the blank key first).

Well you get what you pay for, the key is very touchy and sometimes can lock the steering and sometimes does not, you kinda got to play with it. I was wondering since I have a key that will turn the bike on, can the dealer tell now which key I need and order me a factory replacement that works well or will they still need the key code? It was actually pretty cool how the guy did it, just used a blank key, a hand file, 15 min later bike was started. He first removed the tank lock and used that to make impressions on the key. He told me ahead of time it will not be perfect so no hard feelings.

A dealer probably could make one just using the bin code

I would get ahold of the dealer. I would think with your pink slip or some proof that YOU own the bike along with the V.I.N. they can get you another. Not cheap I imagine.
You said the guy that made yours looked a little shady. When he made your key did he cut and do everything manually on the spot or was there a way for him to keep a print of the key or something? I would wonder if its possible for him to make a key for it and have himself a new bike. Just curious. Maby you should keep an eye out for somebody parting out a bike you can get the key and locks you need and just swap them out. You already know one shit bag has a key for it. Look into the disc lock with the alarm as well or a bike alarm. It blows that one little mistake brings out all this crap. Sorry about the long reply but I would hate to see your bike get taken by some worthless pos. Good luck on everything.

Yea he actually seemed like a decent guy, just a lil cracked out lol. He ended up driving like 45 miles to get me the blank key since nobody had one, so I threw a lil extra $. He made it on the spot on my warehouse table with just a file, so he doesn't have any prints or anything. It was late in the afternoon so it was kinda a rush job as I had to lock up the office and stuff.

I'm gonna go to the hardware store and get a copy made figure its worth a try to see if the machine will make a better copy with smoother edges and stuff, but will probably just give me exactly what I have lol.

i thought the key had to be chipped to the ECU. i have a red master key with mine, also my key details are in the front of my service book.

either way, you are fortunate enough to still have the bike but if you get a key cut from that hand made one it will be the same.
i would be looking at new locks simply because the original key might be in the wrong hands. don't forget the seat lock.

Yea thanks hopefully the seat lock won't be too difficult, I think I'm gonna go with a key-less twist type gas cap...
