My stock set up is 16 43, I just bought a 45 rear. Would I have to add any links and if so how many?

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but could someone explain to me everything there is to know about gearing, and also what a chain adjuster does?

That is a tall order. You should search 1st then ask.
How about you start by telling us what you know and if you can not do that, then search.

Hello, everybody!
Its my first time to change my chain and sprockets for my ninja ZX-6R '06. Can you please give me your reviews about JT Sprockets and DID X-ring chain?

I installed JT sprockets and a DID chain on my '09 a couple of months ago. so far, so good. No problems for me at this point (roughly 1,000 miles later).

Just did an rk kit on my 02 zx6r. Less one tooth in the front. I did it myself with no issues. Is the speedo healer a complicated electrical installation?

Hey guys, had a good look around and quite find the info I need. I'm currently running 14 front and 43 rear set up on my 2006 ZX6r, however I now need to buy a new final drive kit as my chain is knackered.

After looking around quite a few forums it seems quite a few people favour going for a 14 front and 45 rear setup (-1, +2). I've had a good play around on the gearing commander website but my question is if I go for this set up will a 110 link chain still be the correct length?

When faced with complete disaster total defiance is the only recourse.

So riding home tonight (2005 ZX636) after refueling only to have my chain fall off. Two hours later my buddy's cousin was able to come by with a trailer to bring my bike home.

I'm looking to buy a new chain, and potentially change sprockets while I'm at it. Any recommendations? Not really sure where to start looking for a new chain. I'll have to check later as to what sprockets are already on it, as I know the PO changed a lot of parts.

This is what I use and recommend:

Sprockets (you can also find them with the OEM number of teeth if you prefer): Vortex Racing Sprocket Kit (-1/+2) for (2005)

Chain: EK Chain 520MVXZ 120 Link Chain

Edit: I also installed a SpeedoHealer to correct the speedometer reading after the gearing change: Speedo Healer 4.0 Kawasaki, ZX-6R (98-04 & 07-09)

So I'm semi-familiar with gear ratios and whatnot, I don't fully understand though. When you changed your sprockets, what made you decide to do a (-1/+2)? Is that a popular decision? Is it worth it for city riding?

Thank you!

Yes, -1/+2 is actually one of the most popular setups. It gives you better/quicker acceleration and slightly less top speed (e.g. 150ish vs. 165ish for my 2009). I ride in the city, on the freeway, in the twisties, and on the track with this gearing. I also installed a SpeedoHealer to correct the speedometer reading after the gearing change: Speedo Healer 4.0 Kawasaki, ZX-6R (98-04 & 07-09)

If you want to see how the different sprocket sizes will affect the performance of your bike, you can experiment with the numbers here: Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator

I think one of the reasons for this change being the most common, is that you can use the same length chain. Just takes replacing the sprockets.

Whatever you do, steel sprockets out last anything else.....
