I have Sunstar sprockets and they are good. No complaints either.

Yup... I just about killed the battery on a very high powered impact gun trying to get the phucker off!

sounds like someone doesnt want me to get it done professionally, lol. i do understand the logic of "doing it yourself," but this seems to be something that only needs doing every 5 seasons or so, depending on mileage. plus i dont have all of the tools-just seems like i would almost break even minus knowing how to actually do it myself.
The weight difference isn't enough to make it "faster". What a lighter weight sprtocket gives you is less rotational spinning mass... making "flicking" the bike from left to right and vice versa quicker. Same reason that carbon fiber wheels are used in racing a lot of the time.

As for steel vs. aluminum... You CAN get really good wear out of almuninum if you get the hardened teeth. I changed my stock steel sprocket out at 17,000 miles or so... I currently have about 8000 miles on the Vortex aluminum with hardened teeth with little to no visible wear. (excessive I should say). And I regularly track my bike and ride it pretty hard.

I've been using sunstar sprockets for a while now. I think they're a really good after market sprocket. And not that expensive either.
i just replaced my chain and sprockets.. and again i went with sunstar.

I went with supersprox when I changed mine a few months ago. Im not a good enough rider to tell the difference in weight, but supposedly they are the best of both worlds - Its a 2 pc sprocket, center is aluminum and the teeth are steel. If you take good care of it, they give you a lifetime warranty too. Ive put about 2.5k on mine so far, and they literally look brand new. Oh, Did I mention that they look bad as fuck?

Hey guys, I'm replacing my chain and sprockets this week as well. I want to buy my own and have the shop switch them out. I have steel vortex sprockets right now and I see that 16 front and 43 rear are the ones to buy. What about a chain? What is the best brand to buy, or some of the best brands? I have a 525 racing chain on it now but I hear a 520 is bigger and better. I ride hard and about 2-3 times a week, so I need something that can keep up. Just looking for some info, so any help would be awesome!!!

I believe 15/43 was actually OEM for the 2005, but I may be off. Make sure you get the front and rear at the same time when you get a chain.

Some of the best brands of chains are EK, DID, and RK. One of the best performance chains you can get for hard use now would be a EK ZZZ 520.

520 is just the pitch of the chain. It would actually be smaller than 525 and 530 would be larger. 520 is fine for 600cc bikes though.

I'd go with steel front/rear sprockets and an EK ZZZ in 520.

i'm thinking about changing up my sprockets and chain this winter and i was looking for something i can pick up into a wheelie real easily without sacrificing the ability to crank on it in second. basically want to get a good wheelie bike while it can still be a good bike to cruise around on. any ideas on a sprocket and chain set up or where i can get one?

I have a 2012 and I am looking into replacing my sprickets and chain. Never regeared a buke before and I think I'm gonna do a 15tooth/43 tooth. My question is when ordering the chain how do know the amount of links i need?

by decreasing the number of teeth of the front sprocket and/or increasing the rear you are adding torque. You will run at higher RPM's making you closer to the power band most of the time. You lose top speed but gain quickness.

To give you an idea... stunt bikes need to have a lot of torque to get be able to quickly snap the front wheel off of the ground.... so on most all stunt bikes you'll see a HUGE rear sprocket.

down 1 in front, up 2 in rear...u wont regret it,, extra low end torque...no involuntary wheelies, but easier to clutch wheelie if that is your thing..2nd gear wheelies....WHO CARES IS YOU LOSE 10MPH ON TOP END SPEED...WHAT REALLY IS THE DIFFERENCE WHEN U R GOING 175 TO 165...SAME THING
