FI light on my 03rr track bike comes on after its been moving but not just idling. goes away when you turn it off and start it back up. im having trouble pulling the codes as nothing is happening when i ground the diag wire. neither dealer modes work. i am touching the connector straight to the ground (should work right?) anyways, any other tips? the bike does have a power commander, i dunno if those mess things up? i searched and only got posts with responses where people told them to search.

According to my manual:

•Remove the seats (see Frame chapter) and pull the self
-diagnosis terminal [G].
•Turn on the ignition switch.
•Connect an auxiliary a lead [E] for grounding to the self
-diagnosis terminal.
•To enter the self-diagnosis dealer mode 1 ground [A] the
self-diagnosis indicator terminal to the ground for more
than 2 seconds [C], and then keep it grounded continuously[D].
○Count the blinks of the LED light to read the service code.
Keep the auxiliary lead ground until you finish reading the service code.

•[B]To enter the self-diagnosis dealer mode 2 repeat opening
and grounding [A] the lead more than five times [F]
within 2 seconds [C] after the lead is first grounded, and
then keep it grounded continuously [D] for more than 2
seconds.○Count the blinks of the LED light to read the service code.
Keep the auxiliary lead ground until you finish reading the
service code.
NOTE
○If the self-diagnosis mode is in dealer mode 1 then you
need to enter the dealer mode 2, turn off the ignition
switch once.

Ru grounding it to the battery neg terminal? Or known ground contact point

Also what are you using to extend(or connect) the diagnos lead to ground?

i just touched the diag wire straight to the terminal, pulling back the rubber cover. i got it though, just turned the bike on. it wouldnt do it just key on like i thought it was supposed to

It could just be the speed sensor on the front sprocket cover. Is that connected? That will make your F light come on only when in motion not idling.
