Hey guys, I just picked up an 07 zx6r used with 4k miles on it. Pretty much a brand new bike except for the clutch.
For some reason, I have to completley pull the lever all the way in to disengage it. On all the other bikes I've ever owned, I barely had to pull the lever in at all, and thats the way I like it.
Is it just a matter of an adjustment, and how do I go about doing it?
Thanks in advance
I have done a search on this, and there are tons of people asking to do the same...except the other way around. Most want the the clutch to engage/disengage close to the bars, but with no real answer.
Long story short, it's slowing my shifts down and making clutch-ups difficult. I just cant get used to pulling the lever in all the way to the bars to shift or slip the clutch to get that boost of power for 1-wheel action.
To be clear, the cable has the recommended, width of a dime, free play. And yes, I have aftermarket fully adjustable levers on the bike.
If any1 can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to take it to the bike shop if I can fix it myself.
Thanks again
try adjusting it on the lower adjuster, follow the clutch cable from the clutch and it should go thru a bracket which has a nut both ends of it and some free thread showing. Loosen off the top adjuster most of the way the way so you've got a lot of slack then loosen the bolts on the lower adjuster and pull it thru to take up some of the slack in the cable and then retighten the bolts and readjust the top adjuster and have a play with it until your happy with how it feels. I'll see if I can find a pic of the lower adjuster.
Sorry I'm wrong above, you need to make it tighter not looser, so don't bother loosening the top just loosen the bottom and pull it through towards the front of the bike and then adjust the top one to suit. Test and adjust as you see fit.
Alright man, I'll give that a try. I'll let you know if it helps. I do know the the nuts you are talking about, so no pic needed. Thanks
Lmao, too late...but thanks again
