They're okay from what I know, but I don't deal with them, so don't have details of their full range. I don't think they make any ester based oils, but I think their normal range is okay, although expensive sometimes.

Hi!

My bike is an '05 636 with 20k on the clock. Only performance mod is a slip on with mid pipe to save weight. It hasn't been abused until now. Probably 70% aggressive street style riding, and 30% track. What oil would you recommend? It's running Shell Rotella T6 right now. What OCI? Also, I'm in central Florida, so even right now in pretty much winter the LOWEST it gets is about 60°, and I'm not riding in anything under that, unless I'm just starting a ride at 0600 hrs, and I won't romp on it till it warms up... Temp outside, and bike... I'm a wuss! But on the track, I'll redline it every gear. Thanks!

I would probably go for a good synthetic 10w-50 if you're thrashing it on track, but any idea how hot the oil is getting on track?

Cheers

Dang, I missed this one.

I assume you are well versed with oil requirements for bikes and cars, oilman.

With respect to an '09 zx6r, I have been running Shell Rotella T6 with an OEM filter. Hard street riding and track days. Most of my riding is done above 8k and for at least 100 miles at a time. I change oil about every 2500 miles and the filter every other oil change. Anything you would recommend as far as my servicing here?

And with a '11+ Subaru WRX. Is T6 and an OEM filter also a good combo? Factory specified 3750 mile intervals, too soon or just right? I DD the car and it will be a weekend warrior/TD tow vehicle. Would also like recommendations on tranny and diff oils. I guess just stick with Redline?

My question is about fork oil, I think you mentioned that you had opinions on fork oil as well. What are your thoughts on upgrading the oil in my stock 09 zx6r BPF fork, I was recommended to upgrade to Ohlins or Maxxima. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

In that case, go for a 10w-50 to be on the safe side.

Hi

If there is no clutch slip with the Rotella, then stick with it, it seems to be doing a good job. Doing 100+ miles at a time helps the oil as it gives it a chance to burn off any fuel or moisture.

With the Impreza, I would go for a 5w-30 or 5w-40 as you're losing cold start protection with a 10w-40. Unless it's modified, a 5w-30 should be fine, but as it's used for towing, 5w-40 is probably the sensible option. Does it have a DCCD set up?

Cheers

According to my data, you need a 10w fork oil and I would go for something like the Silkolene Pro RSF, Motul Factory Line or Redline Medium as an upgrade.

10w Medium Weight Fork Oil

I don't deal with the fluids that you mentioned, so can't really say much about them.

Cheers

Normally a 10w-40 synthetic would be fine, but if used hard all the time in hot weather you could try a 10w-50 synthetic, but not sure what is available in NYC?

Cheers

Iv been using the Redline in my forks for 4-5 years now & Its good stuff,
I like the feel & performance ( & yeah you will notice the deference immediately) I change it every 2 years.

Used the maxxima before, & it don't compare.

Hey oilman, iv always wanted to know what is the best oil filter? i jump between k&n and amsoil filters lately. Whats in your opinion is the best for bikes and best for cars?

Also i ride 2007 zx6r 13,000 miles. i ride from 30 degrees up to 100ish in the summer. i currently use amsoil filter and amsoil 10w-40 but i saw that you recommended thicker oil in the summer, i do ride somewhat hard so id like the best i can get. So what do you recommend for oil and filter?? Thank you
