This will be a work in progress. This will be a very loose guide on what you need for this swing arm swap. here is a list of what I used. (this list can vary)

07/08 zx6r swingarm
09 zx10r shock (not necessary but i got a good deal on one)
05-08 rear spacers, axle, rotor and rear brake bracket (still have to make the correct wheel spacers)
zx7/zx9r hub/bearing spacer P/N:92143-1473 (obsolete, had to order one from south africa believe it or not)
25mm wheel bearings (same as the front wheel bearings for the 98+ zx6r)
25mm cush drive bearing: 20-1024
08 zx6r cush drive spacer

Forgive my photo taking skills

Here is one problem, the new bearings are 2 or 3mm thinner than stock so a washer should be made to take up the extra space inorder for the ring clip to secure the bearings in place

There is an issue with the sprocket alignment. Another member on another forum said that the front sprocket must be offset from the motor about 3mm. I cannot confirm that due to my motor still being rebuilt.

The 05-08 rotor fits perfectly but the 05-08 caliper bracket is very very close to the rotor and catches on the allen bolt as the wheel turns. very simple just grind off the excess until the wheel turns free.

Looks pretty much dead on. My tank is not aligned so it may seem as if something is off

If you want to fit a zx10r shock you must do some modifications to the shock itself.

end result (almost)

Some other notes:

Another member on a different forum has done this already so I cannot take complete credit for this swap.

1. The other member used the same wheel bearings but stuck with the stock cush drive bearing (25mm) and made a custom bearing and cush drive spacer. I used a 30mm bearing and used the 08 cush drive spacer, same set up as the 07/08 wheel. either works i guess but this will make your wheel spacers different from mine vs his. So my suggestion is to put the wheel bearings in and decide which way you would go since you would have to machine 3 custom spacers instead of the 1 i only need to make.

2. The hub spacer that spaces your wheel bearings can ideally found off a zx7(r) or a zx9r its 25mm and 133mm in length so its perfect. However this part is obsolete so you can actually buy the 05-13 zx6r hub spacer but shorten it to the ideal 133mm (its 137mm). I somehow found a zx7 spacer for $16 in south africa so i was lucky.

3. if your 07/08 swingarm comes with a washer for the pivot, i would just stick with the washer off your original swingarm because it fits very well with it. if the 07/08 washer works than go for it.

4. The wheel spacers i used was the one stock spacer from the 05-08 axle for the sprocket side of the wheel. the rotor side of the wheel i measured the spacer to be about 24.47mm so 24.5mm. Use these measurements loosely since it varies and i could be wrong

Any more update on this build mate?

So i attempted to fit the rear brake today and the 2 mounts need to be machined/ground down, there is a lot of meat on that bracket so dont be too concerned about messing it up. Sending measurements to get a spacer made. should be down hill after that.

not really much of an update. but since the bearings are shorter by 2mm on the rotor side and 3mm on the sprocket side I used these thrust bearings to take up the space and snap the circlip on. you can put them in before or after the bearing i guess i put them in after.

If you're feeling cheap there's a good chance you can file the caliper a little to get disc clearance. I can send you a knackered caliper of mine for postage cost (or free with them.yokes if you go ahead with it) to do a trial run. ZZR 600 E has identical caliper up to at least the 06 636 if not later.

ok so i am planning on doing this swap. Couple questions first tho...I re-use my 97 rim correct? Also can you give me a list of everything i will need to buy? Part numbers help a lot because i can order some things thru the dealership i work at (it is Harley-Davidson so everything would be special order). Also do you have the exact measurements of the spacers that need to be made, i have a guy who will make them for me but whats detailed drawings. Thanks!

08 Cush drive spacer p/n: 42036-1279
That's all the part numbers that's needed. Everything else can be bought off eBay.

You can reuse your F series wheel. I do have the measurements but I suggest you should figure those measurements out yourself. My rear wheel looks dead on but I don't want to give you the measurements and have you spend whatever amount to make them to have you find out that I was wrong. I'd get all the stuff, mock it up, measure what spacers you need and let me know what you get. If we are close to each other then chances are that the wheel is center, if not someone messed up. As far as I know I'm the only one to do it this way, Fman has done it but I wasn't sure what measurements he got, another person did it another way but he eliminated a few things.

ok thanks...i actually found the hub/bearing spacer and snatched it up already, it is actually a NOS part and still in the original packaging and everything. Had a good deal on the swingarm (included the swingarm, shock, axle for $100) but it got sold before i got paid :(

$100 isn't too shabby. I'd hold out for cheaper ones. I got mine for $25 shipped and then my 09 zx10r shock for $40 shipped. Axle and spacer was $10. So for $75 I got a decent deal. I actually can't find the measurements but I'll post them up when I do, just double check everything before you make the spacers. I'll be available after May 9th if you want to meet up if you still want that shorty exhaust I have and I can show you all the parts I used on my swingarm swap.

How's it all looking mate.. Anymore update happy snaps?

Not too much Arron, I've been buying more 2 stroke bikes and parts lately, but I did end up making an exhaust and got my J engine running. It doesn't sound too bad I got a video and pics of it in my build thread if you are curious

Sundays work for me, I won't be available available from May 18th-25th though
