Throttle Body Synch

I just finished making a manometer to synch the throttle bodies on my 2009 ZX-6R (and the carbs on TBK's 2004).

Parts I used:
  • 2 x 20' Sections of Clear Tubing
  • 2 x F connectors
  • 4 Vacuum Restrictors
  • 2 x Gutter Guards (stacked for mounting everything onto)
  • 50 or so Zip Ties
  • 1 x Bottle of 2-Cycle Engine Oil (Blue)

Construction Steps:
1. Cut a small length of tubing and use it to join the F connectors.
2. Mount the joined F connectors to the bottom of the gutter guard using zip ties.
3. Cut one of the 20' tubes into four equal lengths, and connect them to the F connectors.
4. Attach the four tubes to the gutter guard, using Zip ties every few inches.
5. Put the end of one of the tubes into the 2-cycle oil container, plug two of the other tubes, and then suck on the fourth tube to draw the oil into the system.
6. Remove the tube from the 2-cycle oil and let all the oil in the system settle down to the bottom of the tubes.
7. Put a vacuum restrictor (metal end first) in the open end of each of the four tubes.
8. Cut the other 20' tube into four equal lengths and attach them to the other ends of the vacuum restrictors.

Final Assembly:

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'

The only time a leader should use the word "I" is in the sentence "I have to shit"

Thanks strider I need to do this soon and all the videos I've seen seem like they aren't in depth enough for me to risk throwing them way out of balance

How many miles are on your 09? I have an 11 and I'm thinking I'm getting close to having to do this. And I don't have a clue on how to do it.

I have just over 50,000 miles on mine. I recently did a valve adjustment, so I knew it needed the throttle bodies synched. I just finished synching them (they were quite a bit out of adjustment), so in a little while I will update post #2 above with photos/video and a write up.

We also adjusted the carbs on my 2004 ZZR-600. The setup worked beautifully and my bike idles and cruises much smoother. I was amazed just how easy it was on my bike to get them all synched up.

Is this the first time you adjusted the valves and did this throttle body sync in the 50,000 miles?

He probably used a light box for the first pic... You could make a simple one with construction paper and a cardboard box.
