Shock compatibility, 07/08 to a newer one?

Anyone tried fitting a later model shock to an earlier bike guys?

I fancy a newer low mileage shock instead of servicing mine etc.

Servicing shocks is basic. Much easier than working on your forks. Paul Thede ( Racetech) has many youtube videos that you can watch to teach you all you need to know. A few specialty tools and you can do all the work yourself. Some of Pauls videos are for dirt bike shocks but its all realevant. One of the differences is that you have to put the nitrogen in the bladder via a needle instead of a Schrader valve. New oil is all that is needed to refresh a shock that does not have a blown oil seal. Basic stuff Mate.

i have to get a new shock for mine but its finding one that fits ,i fitted an r1 08 complete rear but the 06 shock nearly touches the the de cat pipe so on ebay hunting for one,i need one with the reservoir offset to the left if you were sat on the bike ,think a gsxr one might do it

If anyone else is looking to swap around, I've got an 09 shock on a 06, direct bolt up. Raised the rear ride height a few mm.

Yeah i rekon i've done alright there...

Funny thing is, this is my 2nd P7F and i really liked the first one, rode it at Rockingham circuit and enjoyed it.. But this P7F i've really yet to gell with in any shape or form from a riding perspective. I've tried it at Donington and PEmbrey, but we're still not gelled at all, but i've done very few laps as when we had it out last year i also had a KTM 690 Duke, which i've now flogged so i HAVE to get on with it.

yeh deffo done good there for price,im have just been starting this year with track stuff,my local track is castle coombe,i went to snetterton this year and i didnt gel to well with mine i ended up with a low side lol, being a novice at it it was rider error, but i dont have much confidence with my tyres now either , i was using bt 016 so kind of put me off them,my mate wants to go to donington next year he likes it there,i have never been there,i fancy pembrey next year as well, just sorting bike out with new chain set up, im trying -1 +2,maybe the shock may help out a bit ,over time you wil bond with it ,,what tyres do you run on ,i was thinking of trying them new avon 3d ultras
