This video made my chest hurt. The person advocating for the video made my head hurt.

Lol no I didn't round the bolts and the guy that made the video is actually sponsored by triumph, icon and other companies. (though thats not really relevant to this topic) My bike was at 48k when it sold and it didn't have any issues. Like I said, it is adjustable just not in the traditional sense. If you can afford to replace your cct then by all means. This works well if you're in a pinch so try it or don't. It worked for me and has worked for others. Nitpick the bolts or say what you want about internals if it makes you feel more internet guru but if it actually caused enough damage then I seriously doubt my bike would have made it another 30k without crapping out.

Sponsored by Triumph? Awesome so my Kwaka is built by freaking Triumph now. No one told me..

Is it me or is Icon associated with a whole bunch of retarded squids?

Edit: My nuts hurt after watching that. Should be re-titled: How to round a bolt off 101.

Not sure about the main guy in the video but the other dude should also tighten his belt tension on his pants while he's at it. At least "1 click" on the belt holes should do the trick.

Yeah I know, he's one of those crazy drift guys. Don't worry, I've watched the videos a billion times like the next muppet. But I was full of sarcasm

I have the Street Triple, because I'm not a lard arse. But yeah, very comfortable bike. And I am eagerly awaiting details on the new one being released today. I think it's going to absolutely kill the Speed because who will buy it when it's only 10HP more than the Streetie but with a lot more weight. But yeah...uh...Triumph. The guy who rounded off the bolts is apparently sponsored by them

Too tight of cam chain, and this one was barely too tight so minimal wear over about 2000 miles since they installed the manual tensioner

notice how those end cam journals are worn excessively from being "pulled" on........compare to the journals right next to them with zero visible/measurable wear..

So my experience and knowledge with thousand and thousands of bikes and seeing the internal workings of all of them trumps any putz posting up an idiotic video of a dumbfuck hack doing some halfass "cure"

But hey........follow someone with zero evidence and zero knowledge......it is your bike- do what you please just don't whine about it or claim there are no bad side effects from ignorance!!!

RJ2112, Sanctuary, Strider and 1 others like this.

Stupid people say stupid things on the internet, so be wary of who those people are. If you solicit advice on the internet, just keep in mind 99% of what you'll receive is not based on fact or science-and likely atleast 95% of it is based on bullshit and bravado regurgitated from some other schlub who also did not experience any of what they claim and are also full of shit. If you don't like my bluntness- too bad. I am not here to please you, so move along, your approval is not desired nor is it needed. So before opening your pie hole and adding more stupidity, perhaps sit back, listen, absorb and learn something. You know that saying, it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

Well if the tensioner truly is not picking up the slack.......... Then removal, clean up and inspection is in order, then possibly replacing it if you find
galled teeth
rough slider
galled pawl that engages the teeth
or any reason it is not operating smoothly
or if it is out more than about 6 teeth- I would also replace........4 or 5 is the norm through a bikes (all years post 80's kawasaki's in particular) entire life, short of .......thinner head/base gasket or milling of the head or cylinders

but sometimes they simply require cleaning (oil does get gummed up or a aluminum chip gets lodged etc) and can be put back in per OE instructions....

I see very few actually failed, sans the ones people "force" to advance and chip the teeth or put big burrs on them...........

There...........is that a little more subtle and not smack one over the head with a 2x4............. you know how I like the 2x4 when it comes to dumbasses giving dumbass advice..........lol (you were not the dumbass)

Hola fellas, so Ive done my valve adjustment and everything went swimmingly. The bike idles and revs wonderfully, except for some reason now my tensioner seems to be too tight. Ive removed and installed 3 times per the manual and it continuously clicks out 6x and results in the whining noise of an over tight cam chain.

rides through the years:
1999 YZF600R aka The Briggs & Stratton 600
2006 ZX-10R aka The BigCat (bored and stroked to 1157cc)
2006 GSXR 600 (bought from friend to fix and sell)
2008 ZX-10R aka The Green Goblin (Best handling 1000 Ive ever ridden)
2004 GSXR 600 (bought in a pinch and sold to a friend, who still owns her)
2009 GSXR 1000 (meh)
Current : 2010 ZX-6R aka Molly (best handling bike alongside the 2008 ZX-10R)

Mileage?

If you have taken it out 3 times then I must ask you have looked at it closely?
Seems to me you only have 2 possibility's, one is the tensioner is toast or you need a new cam chain.
So 50 to 80$ for the tensioner to disprove one OR.
