J1 Birdcage

Hi Guys,

I know this question has probably been battered to death but I am wanting to replace the birdcage on my 2000 J1 ZX6R and just wondered if someone could please confirm if this is the correct replacement part or not before I purchase it,

Looks like that's what you need. I'm doing the same thing, I ordered the same thing... just waiting on shipping. I've also seen a "mirror" bracket online. I'm pretty sure that there isn't a separate bracket for the mirrors, but I could be wrong. I'll let you know for sure when mine gets in, if you want.

Just FYI, I tried to fit mine and the mirror bracket didn't line up with the holes in the bodywork.

Don't know if this is gonna be a common thing with these cheap ones I see all over the interwebs or not

Nope, don't have to mess with forks or triple trees. Front fairing and headlight off, and its right there. I did figure out this is the wrong upper stay.

I thought the ZZR bracket was the common replacement for the birdcage.

Loving that link thanks.

So is it the zzr bracket that's needed? What year?
Rab likes this.

If at first you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer
