2006 ZX6R with 3500 Miles

Hey guys! I'm looking to buy my first 636 very, very soon.
I'm looking at one that has 3500 miles, all stock.
It had the gas tank changed because of rust and a rat nest that chewed out the temperature sensor wire, which was also replaced.

I looked at it today and asked the owner to keep the engine cold. Everything seemed cold when I felt around, but when I started it, the temperature already read at 103 F. Today's high was only 81 F.
The idle was steady at 1k rpm and didn't increase which I found strange.
Otherwise, it sounded smooth, ran very well with no hesitations, and revved freely.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks! Looking forward to owning such a cool looking bike soon!!

Sounds normal. The temp is blank until the engine warms up and I think it actually starts displaying it somewhere around 103. Idle at 1K is low...should be raised up a lil bit.

U got previous experience with bikes?? Know what to look for? Whats the price is asking? And where?

The engine was cold, but still read immediately at 103.
I do have a little experience. Chain is a little rusty (stored outside covered by original owner), forks felt good, dust seals good no leaks, gas tank not rusty inside.
Asking price is $4k. Got him down to $3.5k

So it's normal? I would have thought the idle would raise since it is on a cold start.

Oh and the original rear brake wouldn't work so he changed it to a ZX10 caliper... hmm

If you buy it, plan on a full tuneup to be on the safe side.....or just use that to negotiate.

Tires, Mont and balance. Full-service on the brakes and suspension. If the chain is rusty, that could need replacing as well.

Having all that done in the shop is a good chunk of change.

Bikes that sit develop problems in places that are not typical.

If it's running with those miles you have a peach, with not many mod's the lower the better.

$3,500 would be pretty good price. 3k would be better.

Bring cash, then tell him. You can try and get more and maybe get it later after dealing with many nuts. Or Take cash NOW and your done.

Well, I ended up buying it for $3.5k. My friend rode it home (20 miles). One of the forks is leaking pretty bad from a pitted and rusted inner tube. I went ahead and ordered a set of forks on eBay for $200 since the inner tube didn't look salvageable.

It's missing the gas cap. Which aftermarket one will vent correctly? I'm reading a lot of mixed reviews for aftermarket caps.

No pics as it's just a stock limited edition titanium with integrated front signals.

It took 3 tries to cold start her in 38 F ambient temperatures yesterday. I'm going to clean out the fuel pump strainer and injectors soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

Everything is running great!

I'm ready to get rid of this ugly fender with a TST Industries license plate bracket and light.

Would I be able to use the stock rear turn signals with their mount kit? Mount Kit

Three tries at that temp. Not bad.

Yes drain all the fluids, get the forks done.

Doubt it. The stock turn signals mount differently and with a screw.

You would need some aftermarket blinkers which attach with a nut....like this: 4pcs LED Turn Signal Blinkers Lights For Kawasaki Ninja ZXR ZX 6R 7R 9R 750 900 | eBay
