Yeah, I can't tell where it came from and don't want to risk putting it back together and it not working. Soooo.... I ordered another engine today. The wife is going to lose it when it shows up lol.

Alright, just an update. I rolled the dice on an Ebay long block....

And it's running like a champ!

I had an issue with it running yesterday, but it turns out that during my eagerness to get it back together I didn't tighten the bolts to the tip-over sensor. Took it out on a test ride and it died at speed... the sensor came loose.

I thought it was the fuel pump because it acted like it didn't get fuel (I was right, kinda) and saw the sensor hanging there calling me an idiot as soon as I pulled the seat off.

Anyways, thanks everyone for the input. Here she is with my buddies ride during a quick break.

I Ride: ZX6R G2 (99)

This is actually how I ended up assembling my old Franken-CBR600 around '95. An FM chassis and FN engine. Both ex-race machinery. One went through the gravel and totalled the chassis, the other threw a con rod through the case. A friend of mine ran a breakers, and I got bestest-friend-ever rates (I think I paid him about £1000 for what was easily about £3 or 4k worth of kit). Bolted them together and instant awesome.

A 2nd hand engine from a private seller is complete luck of the draw. If you get one from a decent breaker, it's very unlikely you'll get screwed. Not if they intend to remain in business, anyway.

The best advice I ever received was "Just look pretty and try not to break anything."

1999 ZX6R (G2) - Pipewerx exhaust (dB killer removed) | Dynojet Stage 1 | K&N air filter | flushmount front LED indicators | Clear LED tail light with integrated indicators | Scottoiler eSystem | Pyramid Plastics hugger | HID headlight | Stubby levers | HEL braided steel lines | 07 ZX6R radial master cylinder | Bar-end mirrors | Double-bubble screen | Crash bobbins | one hell of an anal-retentive owner.
