Sorry for any ignorance or if I double up an existing thread. I just got my bike ready for the season. New tires, drained and filled coolant and oil. Painted tank which did require removing the fuel pump. Took the bike out for a short test drive rode the bike for about 15 min absolutely no issues. Pulled in the driveway and the engine cuts out. Go to restart and the bike turns over and headlights comes on and the digital speedo cycles. The servo under the seat doesn't cycle and neither does the fuel pump. Checked all my fuses and they were good. So without heading to the shop I am basically just buying parts and swapping until problem is fixed. Would like to hopefully avoid the shop and buying a @ss ton of parts I didn't need. Bike is 2006 636 the ECU should be stock and should may or may not be original fuel pump was a short period I didn't have the bike. Any help or advice appreciated
Also new battery

Fuel pump does NOT cycle on and the servo under the seat doesn't cycle either. Don't know if one feeds input to the other and that is why. :O Also forgot in the original post that brand new battery. Would I be able to somehow route power to check the pump. Or is that not recommended.

Well sounds like something is blocking power from goin to ur fuel pump. Probably a safety switch somewhere. So even if u check it, its prolly gonna show nothing. But if u really wanted to then yes, unplug the fuel pump and test for voltage at the plug (bike side obviously) while cranking.

Are u sure ur master switch is plugged in and working?
Is your neutral light on?

Voltmeter.. That is what's needed.

The hint for me is first ride of the year.
I just got my bike ready for the season
With other details, sounds like just came out of winter storage. Since it started I'M guessing battery tender on bike. Reason it started.

With no other information, you have one or both of the following.
Most likely the battery is toast, and OR the voltage regulator is shot.

Put tender back on, see what voltage gets up to. Start bike or try while looking at meter.
What did the voltage do. If it starts, what does the voltage do.

Just bought a new battery for mine. One start per ride. Bad cell, voltage there but goes real low when you try and start it.

Since you did the battery, my next suggestion would be get leads to the fuel pump connector.
Is it getting power.

That should point you in the right direction. Yes, it's the pump.
No follow the circuit back. (with the manual of course.)

with the rear fairing on it wouldnt start. Had to take it back apart to find that. I think its a bad connection on the top connector to what ever that is... And it did cut the bike out on me on the street. So probably good 90% of the time but its the 10% that puts me in trouble.

Put the bike back together she idles like a champ. Rode to work(short 6 min ride), no issues. Cross finger ride home is as smooth. But now I have the FI light on....:frown One of my friends says its from the unplugging of the battery but it wasn't there when I was troubleshooting and now it is?
