OH MY GOD!
But really. This is coming along WAY easier than I expected...
Now it's not nearly done. This is just mockup.
I don't feel like typing out all the sordid details but here's the reader's digest version.
One more spacer bushing needs machined down to Fiona's rear axle ID.
The sprocket carrier looks like it will work. Which is a HUGE relief cause it would be FUCKING pricey to have a different one machined if I needed to change it.
The BST doesn't take a stock sprocket = GAY.
That's Bonnie's old sprocket, a 43 tooth 520 pitch.
Fiona's stocker is a 40 tooth 525.
I could JUST get the chain stretched over the sprocket for mockup.
So now I have to decide whether to just get a after market race sprocket in 525 pitch & which gearing to go with or reuse Bonnie's old sprocket but buy a new chain & front sprocket to match.
Fiona would brush 190 with fairings. I bet after the conversion, without motor work, she won't be able to pull that speed considering the new aerodynamics of a barn.
& if she would, that speed on a naked bike would damn near be like strapping yourself to the nose of an F15.
So I'm thinking about gearing lower for a solid 175 top end.
Bonnie could do 160 on a good day & it felt like minions were trying to tear my head off.
But then I have to consider. I'm taking at least 60lbs off the bike (mostly in front) from what I've weighed so far. Then I'm reducing the rotating mass by almost 12lbs! Couple that with lower gearing & she'll be a unicycle death machine.
As much as I hate to admit it, I'm a wheelie pussy. At least at speeds she can pull the front end up just from a strong roll on.
So final gearing will be a long mental debate between street usability & retardo top speed.
There's a hundred more things. I might get around to sharing later, not sure. But this is by far the coolest thing going on in motorcycle hell at the moment.
& I've damn near drank myself into a euphoric speed driven high from the amount of coffee & mexican liquor I've consumed tonight. I gotta be up in five hours.
Ya'll have a good one!
