I just bought a house 2 months ago so now it is garaged every night (last couple years it just had a bike cover on it.) This is my daily driver so it does get wet every now and then. I try to clean it every weekend now that I have a place where I can take care of it.

I use a product from Mothers called back to black and I use it on all the black parts of the bike. In my opinion it is the best.

Gonna go buy some Black to Black today...hope Walmart sells it. I already have Armorall and WD40 so I'll try all 3 and see what works where.

It's probably from sitting outside. Same reason plastic headlights on cars get foggy after a while of being near the ocean. Once you clean it, and keep it inside now, it should be fine. My bike sat outside with no cover when I lived right on the beach on windward side of Oahu, literally could throw a rock in the water. After about a month or two I moved into a house with a garage and I used Back To Black on all my black parts and they look brand new. Some of the plastic trim pieces were faded pretty bad too. That stuff is awesome.

Seriously you gotta limit the time the bike is exposed to the elements.
Being on the island cant be helping you.
