Good track bike?

When I got my ZX6 I also got my girlfriend a 650r . So fast forward and we break up. She's giving the bike back but I'm not too sure what to do with it. Don't really have room for it but I thought about making into a bike for the track. Now my question is would a 2007 650R even make a good track bike? Or should I just sell it? Mind you I never been to the track mainly because I thought I'd drop my bike and mess up my flawless fairings
So to track or not to track?

Depends....if you can't get a good price for it, track it. If you get offered more than you were shooting for, sell. And to answer your other question, yes. It will make a decent track bike...especially since you're new to the track. You'll need a better shock for the rear, and heavier oil for the front to get better compliance from it. You'll also want to get adjustable rearsets, drop the front, and raise the ass. Then get some good rubber & ride out. You can track it without buying anything other than sticky rubbers for it, but as you get better (faster), you'll want the suspension and rearsets. The raise & lower are definitely recommended for track riding though.

Hmm...thanks for the info for if I track it Kone. Its in pretty rough shape (she has dropped it a few times) but not so bad that it wouldn't sell. May see what I can get for it, and if it doesn't sell by the time I put money away for track gear then I think I will track it.

Sounds like a winner. Check back issues of sport rider or cycle world. they raced a 650r and a versys in a race series awhile back (i think it was cycle world...whichever one Don Canet wrote for). He really liked the 650r as a racer. clip-ons are something else that you way want eventually.

Either track it or sell it and buy an already prepped track bike with the money

Personally I'd sell it and use the money to buy a used track bike. Something that someone else has already put money into all the right bits and is looking to get rid of for cheap, especially if it comes with extras. There's plenty of track bikes that are in good to decent shape with a shitload of mods, extra wheels, fairings, etc for around $5-2k.

Sell it or use it for commuting. You'll have to dump money into it due to the lack of adjustable suspension in order to really push that bike on the track. I honestly don't think it's worth the money.
