Hi. I've just bought an 04 zx636 and couldn't be happier. Nice and quick compared to my old 99 zx6r and it sounds awesome. I was just wondering when the best time to change gear is? It redlines at 15,500 rpm but at around 14,500-15,000 the light flashes but I'm fairly sure it stops once u go past that point. To put it simply, is it quicker to change gear as soon as the light flashes or do it when it hits the redline?
Thanks

Just saw ur sneaky comment. I would've thought redline but it feels like the power drops off at the end of the gear and really kicks in again when u go into the next gear which made me think maybe changin earlier would be better than redlining. Sorry for not knowing everything o great one

Wherever peak torque is I guess, for a technically perfect shift. Around 13500 I think?

Op.. U should go out and buy one or multiple gopro hero 2's.. Then ride around the UK practicing on how fast u can reach the shift light in gears 1-4, maybe 5th if u have the male genitals.. Post all ur videos here and on YouTube and we can give u feedback on ur riding.. That's honestly the best way we can help..
Ps.. U can also work on ur wheelies and ur hooliganness while ur at it.. Also recording so we can help u out with positive reinforcement..
Sorry wiffy.. Rest in peace our gone but not forgotten green machine..

Thanks | Hey ant, im not sure if you have a green zone on your dials like the 09 zx6r does but the red line is there to say you should really be looking for another gear as it could cause engine damage, stay just below it and change gear man coz the pull you can feel will still be there in the next gear mate, it will only drop off if you change up gear to early and if your near the red line that wont be to early

The light on the bike is adjustable and can be set at different RPM's. The best time to change gear is when your at peak HP which it does tell you in the owners manual for the best idea of when to do it although all bikes are different and the only way to tell for your bike is to get it on the dyno and find out where it peaks, but you don't need to be that accurate and the stock in the book will be close enough.

^ just make sure u lower ur tire pressure and make sure they are hot and sticky.. So when u launch u just don't sit there and burnout..
