I was gonna take my bike in to get dyno'd but than i realized i have everything but aftermarket filter, i was gonna go with a k&n. Well one of the guys in my command said yea i should wait becuase if im gonna put more air out with a slip on or full exhaust i should have more air coming in. But one of the guys im gonna start racing with told me leave it stock and dyno it, stock is the best way. Im lookin for opinions on what you guys think go k&n or just leave it stock n throw it on the dyno thanx in advance

if you plan on dyno your bike i would do all the performance mods to the bike 1st before you put it on the dyno so everything will be tune coreectly bc if you tune the bike now and add more performance parts later it will throw the tune off.

The job of the intake filter is just that, to keep dirt/debris from entering the engine. For streetability your power is going to come from elsewhere, I wouldn't worry about chasing that last 1-5 hp from a filter.

A pitch change in the exhaust note is one thing, but the 1-3hp gain is really a fools game. It's a case of chasing an extra 10th or so in a street application, where the extra tiny bit of accuracy won't make a difference. Seems foolish to go after something that''ll be hardly noticed by feel, no?

I dyno-ed my bike before Christmas to see what power it was making and it will get dyno-ed in March after the service is come plete to see what the difference will be. however there have been threads saying the the OEM filters are more than good enough for the bikes so don't worry about K&N or BMC filters... I just put an OEM one on mine and because it was clean it made a difference to the sound of the exhaust..
it is true though that the more air you put in... the more you need to get out to counteract this :-)
