hey guys and gals. It has rained here the past two days here in new York and I'm sitting in class tright now. My buddy wants to go riding this afternoon. He has a fjr in your guys opinion, the bike should be safe if we came across some salt but I'm thinking there won't be. I'll check on the way home but my question is if I wash it right after and put it back in my heated garage it should be good right? Thanks everyone.

As long as you wash it off I think it'd be fine.

Should be any different than here, id say your fine. There may be some salt collected at intersections so just watch it dont be stupid. Watch on curves, roads are still nice and cold too so just take it easy and you should be fine.

you'll be fine, just be careful it'll be slippery, and make sure you give her a good wash down. Don't use water, salt in its self is highly corrosive, so is tap water, both together is even worse. Try and use some type of spray cleaner.

most spray cleaners don't require water, of course if you have big chunks of dirt, you might to use some water.

I rode mine a few weeks ago when it warmed up one day and wish I hadn't because of the salt. It really was nasty when I finished the ride and I did wash it all off the best I could right away and put it back in the garage. I noticed my rear rotor and some other things still showed some orange soon after. I was able to clean everything up for the most part but wish I would have resisted. Today is another similar day and I would really like to get out for a ride this afternoon. We have had a little rain since the last salting, hopefully it was enough to wash all the salt off the road!

Today looks even better, may have to call it a day here in a few and hit the road again! |
