been seeing alot of crashed bikes lately, more then usual it seems. not trying to call anyone out or anything, this thread isnt here to make fun of anyone. i just think it might help other to try and avoid doing the same. low sides, high sides, you fault or not, lets see em all. tell you story, what happen or what you think happened. let try and get some insight into what going on with most of these wrecks to try and get some pointers out there. weather you've been riding for 10 days, 10 months, or 10 years chances are you've probably gone down. share your stories.
heres mine.
this was my old 954, it doesnt look like much, but that little bit of rash you can see on the bottom of the fairings was a medium speed low side to a high side that cause me to break 8 bones. i was going to fast for conditions basically. i was on my way home from a friends and it started pissing hard on me, and i was wearing jeans and a mesh jacket so i was getting soaked, and i was freezing. everyone knows when it first starts raining, it washed all the bullshit up to the surface and across the roads, well i was to ready to get home, even tho i was already soaked, so i didnt slow down enough to make a lazy left hander. even tho i was going the speed limit, the traction just wasnt there. i low sided at about 45 mph, and immediately after i lowsided, my frame sliders or something caught a pot hole in the road and flipped me completely over high siding me. i hit the pavement right leg first, breaking 6 bones in my foot and ankle, never was my right wrist causing me to break 2 bones in it. my head then hit the ground hard enough to crack the shell of my scorpion exo-400. i still have pain in my right foot over a year later, and i will for the rest of my life. moral of the story, if it starts raining, slow down. even if you going the speed limit, that doesnt mean you still cant eat shit.

Mines:
Cold tires, Icy Roads, pulling away in first gear to the right. Revved too high lost the back wheel and lowsided the right hand side of the bike.
Purely down to lack of experience.. something which i'm getting more and more of now.

I'm sure maybe my wreck (today) helped motivate this thread.
Lowsided coming out of a parking lot at roughly 25 mph. I was wearing gear so I'm fine, just some scrapes knees and a gnarly bruise on my ass.
Time to start rebuilding. |

There was light gravel on the scene but I don't think that was the issue.
