The pipes they run are wide open titanium. If you ever held a titanium exhaust, its literally 3 pounds lmao

Undertail exhaust is restrictive. Takes more bends and bigger bends to get there. That restriction means less power. So side exhausts are better. They look better too.
Undertail looks ok-ish from the side, but when you get closer the muffler looks disgustingly gross sticking out under the tail.

What about the underbelly bullet style exhaust the 650R has? What are the pros/cons of that?

Biggest one for me is to make the front end not look utterly retarded. No offence to you guys with the newer bikes but I couldn't own one just for the front.

To me the worst things about the undertail exhaust are the weight being in the worst place and the greater expense involved in a more complicated design. The underbelly exhaust is much better in regard to mass centralization which is a key to better handling. Even Ducati has abandoned their signature undertail exhaust with the new Panigale. They went to an underbelly exhaust like Eric Buell pioneered many years ago.

The potential drawbacks of an underbelly exhaust are the tighter bends and loops of the tubing which makes designing a more efficient free-flowing system more difficult.

I do like the look of undertails but I would LOVE some friggin storage room. I can't fit a thingamajig of tick tacs in my 05 cowl.

the current look has been around for more than 3 years they were supposed to change it for the 2012s and didnt so idk what they really plan on doing they better change it i was so mad they left the 2012 with the same look as the 2009, 2010, and 2011

As far as Predictions... i predict a fascia change. I don't know HOW different it will be, but I think they'll make it closer to the zx10r. Doesn't make sense to pioneer a whole new style... But they won't make it a clone unfortunately. If they do, I'll be first in line. I also predict OPTIONAL electronics. Not sure what or which, but, I think they kinda have to now to keep it on top. If they don't the next gen 600s from every other brand WILL overtake us, and then, we're 1 gen BEHIND... Someplace NO manufacturer wants to be. They probably won't bring back the undertail... More expensive as Tgold said... Sure. I can agree with that Hell, it really is lol And it would put more weight in a bad place... All 3 ounces of it or w/e. I see that as a moot point @ the #s you're really looking at.


As for a WISH list.....
Give us the Undertail exhaust back
636 would be nice... But @ LEAST more power, and a higher redline

Otherwise... I'm good. Put it this way, the only way kawasaki will have me as a new bike buyer ever again, is if they do bring back the undertail, and get rid of the ugly SOB they sell now. I cannot stand the squashed bug look

I disagree on both accounts, if that were the case why would motogp use undertails?
