This is a great project and I comend you on your efforts! I wish there was a program like this when I was in school.

Good Job man, Brilliant, honestly outside of maybe some liability issues that you can deal with fairly simply, I don't see how anyone could fight this.

Thanks for the support - it's much appreciated!

When you mention liability issues, do you mean the potential for liability with students injuring themselves? If so, there will be a waiver they have to sign before they join the club related to that.

If you're thinking of some other liability that may exist, PLEASE let me know so that I can head it off!

No that's exactly what I was talking about, a standard liability form to cover you in the case of an accident.

Again great plan, keep us updated, I'd like to hear how things go and see the finished product!

I'll be sure to keep the forum updated about what we are doing. Once we actually start our first project, I'll probably start a new thread to showcase the progress we make and to ask for help WHEN we need it.

Please feel free to also check out this other thread to let me know of any other tools/materials I should be looking to get donated.

Thanks again for the support!!!

Just by reading the first post, this is what my high school did:

A club was created a few years back to build a cafe racer for a local contest between schools - you could get more interest in it by setting a rivalry with other schools to attract more interested kids. The motor was donated by an outside party and it had to be in spec for a certain class. After that they made most of the frame/subframe/wiring/etc in the shops they had for metals classes and such, and they even made a makeshift spray booth in the back of the woodshop area. Most of the work was done by the kids with some guidance and checks by the club organizer/overseer (which could be you) and they did this 2 hours after school every day and any other time the organizer could be there. The bikes had to pass an inspection at the end and then a licensed racer would take it out and test it - and then get the best time he could - at a local track. Then there would be a vote on which bike looked the best/most professional, and then they would declare a winner for both events and then they bikes would be auctioned off. That money could either go to a local good cause, to the school for that specific club, or a mixture of both. I'm sure you could chat with some local schools to get it started and even talk to a dealership for a sponsorship - get their name out there for others because this can have a tendency to draw a crowd. Win - Win.

Superstitious? No, but I am a little stitious - Micheal Scott

GoFundMe: #1 for Crowdfunding & Fundraising Websites

seems to be all the rage for others to help pay for stuff

Put together a good proposal and reason you need the money and an attainable reachable goal amount and no doubt you will get donations.

Stupid people say stupid things on the internet, so be wary of who those people are. If you solicit advice on the internet, just keep in mind 99% of what you'll receive is not based on fact or science-and likely atleast 95% of it is based on bullshit and bravado regurgitated from some other schlub who also did not experience any of what they claim and are also full of shit. If you don't like my bluntness- too bad. I am not here to please you, so move along, your approval is not desired nor is it needed. So before opening your pie hole and adding more stupidity, perhaps sit back, listen, absorb and learn something. You know that saying, it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

I'm not completely against this sort of deal, but I'm really more interested in forming long-term partnerships with local companies rather than getting some one-time money from a bunch of people I'll never hear from again

^ You could always keep those people updated on progress reports, pictures, mentions of support........

You know kind of like when one goes out and solicits for support for a racing campaign

But I hear you...

welcome back then giving me the finger is not very welcoming

Why not just say what is really on your mind, I always do- even if it would offend you.

OP--looks like sportbike trackgear and Aubrey are in for some help......local and beautiful, that deserves a more in person conversation !

yea I know she is married, she is still hot and rides a motorcycle!

We talked this morning, we're going to try to see what we can do as this progresses. I actually had an 01 r6 which is the same model, so I'm going to see what I have laying around in the garage too.

Thanks Riverszzr

Headed out to pick up the R6 in about 10 minutes and will be taking it straight to the school to unload. I'll take some pics of the bike and of our "workspace" for y'all to see. Wish me luck!
