Erik Buell Racing sold for scrap - Common Tread - RevZilla

There was alot of speculation going around about someone picking up Erik buell racing but no one ever made a deal. Now it's going to liquidation. Never rode any if them but they were always interesting.

Don't be stupid.

Yeah saw that article the other day. Sucks but its hard trying to stay in business selling a bike for twice the price of the competition.

Let alone trying to make it competitive...lol

In my opinion, America should have a sport bike company.
Can Eric Buell do it?

Idk...

Keep it on 2 wheels!

Sad to see an American heavy industry brand vanish .

People forget that behind and under every industry, including service and the "information-based economy," is tangible product. It makes me want to invest in railroads or something, lol...

Supposedly the people who bought it are looking for a buyer to revive it. So while it is very small, there is a glimmer of hope for the company.

Erik Buell Racing Sold at Third Auction, Will Live On Again

A&R seems to be under the impression that EBR isn't headed for the scrap yard. And A&R is run by the founder of our great forum, so I usually tend to believe what they post.

Yeah made it seem like they wanted to part what they could and melt down the rest. The my article didnt include this statement at all:

"We will not be manufacturing motorcycles, as Liquid Asset, but we will be working to put together a plan with a team that can be successful in doing that,” said Bill Melvin Jr., owner of Liquid Asset Partners, while speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel."

Thats pretty cool, hopefully someone is willing to pick it up.

If ever there was a brand that needed to be put to bed it's EBR. While some of the ideas might be good and all that the bikes never sell enough to keep them in business. Erik Buell needs to just pack it up and spend the rest of his days on a beach somewhere sipping mai-tai's.

Every time they go bankrupt someone picks it up and puts him back into the mix somewhere... they build a new bike. It's pretty rad. Doesn't sell. Doors close.... brand gets sold off again. It's happened 3 times. Know when to throw in the towel.

Please... for the love of all things moto... let EBR die.

Let's just face the facts, Americans can't build a competitive sport bike, there I said it.

If EBR comes back with some naked bikes, maybe a scrambler/caffe or two, I think they could do alright. But dumping all their money into R&D on a sportbike that can barely keep the jab bikes in site on a race track just isn't worth it. Eric Buell spent all his money on tech that was drastically different form the jab brands, but had no decisive advantage performance-wise.

In other words, cater to the hipster crowd and forget racing.
