2017 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

I'm wanting to attend the 2017 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and I'm just wondering if anyone here has gone there or what tips you might have.

Future Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Race Dates Announced

Looks like it would be pretty awesome to be there!

You won't see a ZX10R there again unless they changed the rules back.

I've been wanting to go, and probably would've gone this year, but then I heard about the rule changes and basically neutering the motorcycle classes and I thought it was lame enough that I wasn't interested anymore. Decided to go racing instead just east of that, at High Plains!

I guess my ZX10 will be racing up it next year, but it won't be an "official time".

As in YOU will be racing your ZX10, or someone else on your bike? If YOU do it and break 15:00 minutes, I'll buy you a beer next time we meet after that!

I thought about doing it (before the rules changed)....but then I realized I have no balls or talent lol. I didn't want to be remembered as "the slowest guy who died at Pikes Peak".

So anyone going this year?

Interesting to see that pikes inadvertently changed it's rules in the same direction moto2 and possibly wss will be going to, naked street bike platforms.

Hah, just saw this. We took the bikes out to ride all over Colorado. We didn't actually do a Pikes Peak run though. Maybe this year. We're going out again in August.

If TDH breaks 15:00 on a regular day (not during the race) then I'll buy him a lifetime supply of beer!!

Yeah there's no way lol...unless they shut off the road just for him lol. I know some people that did it on a regular day and it took over 30 minutes.

It'd probably take me 30 minutes even if the road was shut down just for me.

There's a guy that races in CCS midwest, who's a pretty fast expert (usually top 5), who raced his S1000RR at Pikes Peak back in 2015 I think and he did alright. It was his first time ever doing it and I think he did in either just under 12 minutes if I recall.

A guy who I used to race against with MCRA did it a couple of years ago too and I think he went off and crashed into the rocks and broke his ankle.
