New Michelin Power RS TIRE. Release date: 01/01/2017

I've been waiting for Michelin to release a new tire since they entered as the sole manufacturer for MotoGP and here it is. Marketed in the same category as the Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3, Dunlop Sportsmart 2, Continental Sportattack III, Bridgestone S21, Metzeler M7 RR

Michelin lance la nouvelle référence du marché des pneus sport route pour moto : MICHELIN Power RS | Michelin

"When it comes to dry-weather grip, agility, stability and peerless handling performance, the MICHELIN Power RS stands out as the sport motorcycle road tire market’s new benchmark* and accordingly targets the most discerning riders.

The tire’s high level of performance in all these areas is due to the combination of Michelin’s longstanding expertise, its experience of top-flight racing and the diverse nature of its innovations. The combination of new rubber compounds, some of which are derived from racing, and a new casing design has resulted in incomparable grip on dry roads and a unique experience for the rider. The innovative rear tire features a patented construction which benefits from MICHELIN ACT+ technology for impeccable straight-line and cornering stability.

The tire will be available in 13 different sizes (four front and nine rear) covering a broad spectrum of motorcycles, from 300cc bikes to large capacity Supersport machines.

Front:
110/70 ZR 17 54 W
110/70 R 17 54 H

Ya'll see the price tag. I was hoping Michelin would trickle down tech from MotoGP in a competitive tire to a Q3. The Power 3 is not a very good tire for spirited riding, in my opinion. I don't doubt this a VERY good tire for track riding, just don't wanna pay that price when I can get something a little better (Pirelli SC2's) for about the same price.

*Edit* I don't know if anything is better than this tire obviously because nobody has tried it yet, but I am assuming based off previous iterations.

Looks like my Cup's.

Didn't get the sense they were stickier, might have better mileage.
Managed 5 days on my Cup's, might get one or two more since I avoided Putnam last year.
380$ for Cup's. What do these run?

I'm still waiting on someone to figure out how to make good race tires for like half the price of Pirellis, Michelins, and Bridgestones. Race tires are just are just outrageously expensive. People cringe when I tell them I spend 200-250 on a rear tire that lasts me about 200-250 miles....$1/mile in rubber, and that's just for the rear!

low volume production......not going to happen

even though we both know they don't really cost significantly more than what those brands sell as their normal "sport" tire........
PainfullySlo and sbk1198 like this.

Stupid people say stupid things on the internet, so be wary of who those people are. If you solicit advice on the internet, just keep in mind 99% of what you'll receive is not based on fact or science-and likely atleast 95% of it is based on bullshit and bravado regurgitated from some other schlub who also did not experience any of what they claim and are also full of shit. If you don't like my bluntness- too bad. I am not here to please you, so move along, your approval is not desired nor is it needed. So before opening your pie hole and adding more stupidity, perhaps sit back, listen, absorb and learn something. You know that saying, it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

I think the Dunlop GPA run around 325$ a set. I haven't seen better prices than that.

I know...just wishful thinking on my part. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just a different rubber formulation for the different compounds. The molds are the same, and likely the carcass structure too, or at least very similar.

$318 is the cheapest I've seen, and yea it was the Dunlop GPA's. I don't really care much for Dunlops though. And the demand is so high that you rarely ever see any race tires on sale. If they are, it's usually no more than like $50 a set, nothing amazing, or if it's any better it's because they're like 3+ years old.

I'm waiting for a rebate deals on these. If they're not on sale I'm not going to bother trying them, I'll stick with either the Q3's or GPA's.

Dunlop should have a rebate, and maybe an upgrade as well.......

I have sold a few sets but these are definitely more track biased than street. Stick with the new Pilot Power CTs if you are primarily a street rider and want to go with Michelin.
