So, those of you that have been around a while might remember that I posted quite a long time ago now that I was working with a group of high schoolers to try to build up a bike into a track bike after school (original thread here
). Unfortunately, I had some change of responsibilities in my job as well as change of subjects I teach and I dropped the ball for a little while.
While I was busy not helping much, the kids managed to make a big old mess of the engine that we had just finished rebuilding a month or so earlier. Now, I've been going through it with a few kids to try to figure out what's wrong and what we should do next. As it turns out, I think what we should probably do next given my continuing lack of time to help them fix it, is get a new engine.
I really want these kids to be able to see their work finished up before they graduate in May and I don't see a lot of other options for getting that done (more due to my life and work than anything else). It would be too expensive and time consuming to try to track down all the individual things we need to get the engine repaired and I don't have the time or the money. So instead, I'm going to see if I can get help getting the money so that we can replace the engine with a used one and get this bike running.
That's where you guys come in. Any donation you would be willing to make to our GoFundMe page
would be much appreciated. If you don't feel able to donate yourself, but you are sympathetic to what I'm trying to do, I'd love it if you would just spread the word around this forum, other forums you're a part of, facebook, and wherever else you might be able to help us wrangle some support.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If you or someone you know would like to make a tax deductible donation to us not through GoFundMe (donations to which I don't think are able to be tax deductible), please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks in advance for your support and your help in spreading the word!
